So here'e the story. I bought my house 7 years ago and ripped the roof off. So when I had the plywood boomed up through a hole in the roof we made I had 7 extra sheets up there for my now finished Attic. It was finished probably 3 to 4 years ago and I was busy with outher things.

So I had a buddy of mine get me a deal on some casino lobby carpet,(leftovers) and he carpeted my Attic which is 15 y 29 or so for a measily 500!!! Thuis was the only hold up to getting this going.

So my buddies came by the other night and bullied me into setting a quikie track up. It's basic but in the 3 days it's up there, we allready clocked probably 12 to 16 hours!!!

NJbuickracer was here racing allready!! He's got a nice big layout in his place also.

Those cars have come a long way since the early Aurora 'model motoring' days.
Last one I bought was a Tyco Magnum 440 (15 years ago). Those things really rip! What kind of cars you runnin'?

Oh yea dude. I'm big in the HO stuff. Hopped up T-Jets and Magna Traction. Old Skool stuff. As far as the new stuff, we run Patriots. They're real low and set up to fly. Up graded motor and traction magnets too. They really don't come off. And you can't even really watch em when your going good. It's a blur. But when they do come off, look out cause they wip!!!!!!!!!!

I'll take that tracl down and set up HO on the 4x16, and put the Bigger scalelectrix on the 3.5x15. I'll get more pics as I go. But this track picture is something i'm looking into buying.

I had a lot of fun racing 1/32 scale cars when I was a teenager. There were four or five of us that got together and raced at a buddys house in the basement. His dad made us a 3 lane track. We had bushes, trees and lights for "night races". I'm sure the racing kept us out of a lot of trouble. We made up are own bodies by sectioning and cutting down other cars. I raced a 66 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible, it was blue. What a blast. Never forget it. Peace,Mike D.

I'm with you Mike. I can remember as young as 5 or 6 bringing a box of track to grandma's in shirly long island. That was 1970. I been racing ever since. I have probably a mile of every different type, aurora, model motoring, afx, tyco, tomy and 300 to 600 cars of all various era's. Definitly kept us out of trouble. Any chance you have the car tucked away somewhere? Hope you have it. But the memories will last forever. You should check out the new Tomy AFX sets they make now. They're amazing!! Cars are superfast and the tracks are awsome!! All you need is at least a 3 or 4 ft wide by 4 or more ft long. I say go for it!!

I'll tell you what Chris, I am gonna check out the prices on these custom tracks but you can do amazing things with the Tyco track. I have probably a mile of two of Tyco cause it was the best for many many years. But I have to say the new tomy AFX track is way better, i'm told. I have the current New Tomy "17 International Set. It's a huge 4 laner and has 4 of the great new super g plus's. The bank turns are something I might not want to sacrifice. They don't do em on the custom tracks. At least i'm not sure. But the tyco track gives you awsome bank turns!!

WOW! And all you have set up now is a measly 10 ft oval! Get to work!
I put a nice track together in my basement after I bought my house in 1990. That platform has been tied to the ceiling ever since I started buying real cars around 1996...Basement is full of Buick parts now!

BTW, how's the 65 GS restoration coming along?:bla:

Hahaha yea my buddies bullied me into letting them throw that up just to have a little preview. And it's actually 39 running feet in that crappy layout!! My thing is HO. The 1/32nd is good but the HO's are the best!!!

The GS is sitting in my garage. I just got gas for my new welder. So now that the holiday's are behind us i'll get back to working on it!! I need to put it outside to get it ready so I need a few 50 degree days.:TU:

There's a guy in Ohio that repros the Aurora tub track. Pretty cool stuff. I always wanted one of these.

Ive got a 4 laner in my basement made from the new Tyco track. Its 33' of running track. I hard wired it with power in two places so theres no voltage drop. I run a Samlex 0-30 volt adjustable DC power supply. I run the T-Jets at 20-22 volts. When my friend's small kids come by, I turn the voltage down to 10 volts. They can squeeze the triggers all they want and the cars never come off the track. Instant baby sitter. When we take over, just turn up the juice! I still have most of my T-Jets and A/FX cars!

I have a bunch of the old school, 1960's 1/24th cars for the commercial track by me.

Hers a couple I have in my puter. Its on a 4x8 sheet. I used #4 screws and countersunk them all. The power supply is a must have. The one I have is quite a few years old, but I bet you can get it cheap on the bay. Comes in handy for all sorts of things too. Like testing car radios. You ought to see those new Tomy cars at 30 volts! They could probably dent sheetrock when they fly off the track

Dont mind the early 80's decor of my finished basement.

You guys are making me sick! I hate living in south Florida - no basement, no attic, no extra space whatsoever. I would love to set up a track and trains - but unless I build a loft in my daughter's bedroom, it 'aint gonna happen. :ball:

You have to think out of the box. Ive seen a few guys use the back side of a luan closet door. Set it up and screw it all down. When not in use, its a closet door. Pop the pins on the hinges and you have an instant train table or slot car table.

Joe, also look into getting a set of the Parma home track controllers. The rheostats are much nicer than anything that come in a track set. And you can wire in a brake. I have 45 ohm controllers, but I think you can get 60 ohm now.

Sweet. I figure I need at least 4 lanes.

Funny you should mention the supply and controllers. Yesterday I got a new 7 amp power supply and grabbed a new Parma Controller!!!! Great minds think alike!!!

I went through some of my old sets from the 70's and here's 13 sets, 4 unopened.

    I might have a problem.

I also changed the track. Out with the boring oval and built a road coarse with 1000 in Scalelectrix classic track. Went from 3.5 second laps on the oval to 6 sec laps on the new road coarse. Fast lap so far is mine at 5.06 sec.

My buddies cant get past 5.98 so far. But they refuse to go buy their own fast new cars!! They will.

Here's the new 2 lane Scalelectrix on the smaller board. I'm leaving the 4 by 16 for the HO track. This track in on a 3.5 by 15.
