Not mine, not currently for sale.. just an informational post that I will update when the car goes up for sale again at a local dealer. This just showed up at a local dealer that has started selling classic cars. They had at least 30 1960 thru 1980's cars on the lot this summer and I was talking to someone there today when this wagon showed up and he said they are going to build a new show room for just selling classics. This Sportwagon was on Facebook Marketplace in Virginia listed for $24500, it will be interesting to see the dealer mark-up on it, typically this dealer is 10 -15K higher than what I think they are worth, but they are selling. My guess is that they are going to list it for 40K based on other cars they have priced. I was there when the transporter was unloading and at cold start there was a noticeable tapping in the lower end of the engine that went away after it ran a couple of minutes and then it sounded fine at idle. Looked pretty clean from what I could see otherwise. Here it is arriving today (1/13/22) just outside of Buffalo NY. I just happend to be driving by.
Basil Chevrolet, in Depew/Lancaster on Transit Rd. It will be interesting if they follow through with building a warehouse/showroom for selling classic cars. I know they were looking for a classic car salesman over the summer. I have a fair knowledge of most muscle car era brands and I always wanted to go "play" with the salesmen there to see how much they really know Here is their web site Classic Cars | Basil Family Dealerships (basilcars.com)
My cousin lives in Cheektowaga, and used to sell for Mike Barney's Supersports. I'll let him know, maybe he wants that job...
They currently have a '68 Skylark 350 for $40K https://www.joebasilchevrolet.com/inventory/used-1968-buick-skylark-444378b112179/
Swear that is the same car I saw at a Ft Laud auction about 5 years back. Does it have a bunch of travel stickers on the rear window?
Well the dealer near me finally listed it. My guess from the original post was $40K and I was pretty close ($39898). I have looked at it and its not 40K nice. Used 1969 BUICK SPORTS WAGON , #C218 in %%di_city%, %%di_state%% | Basil Family Dealerships (basilcars.com)
Yeah he doesn't work there anymore. I asked him what was up with all the older cars for sale? He said they pick them up, tack on a "couple bucks" and flip em. He too thought they were a little high on the asking price, but people are buying them.
Yeah I seen he moved on. I figured that's all they were doing. They are just another dealership after all!
I think they are building a new show room specifically for the classic car sales, right now there are at least 30 cars sitting outside and I know they have more in storage. Almost a 20K mark up on that Sportwagon. No many Buicks but plenty of 442's
I wonder why the oil pan is blue with red paint over it? Says its a 400 but I wonder why it was blue at one point?
maybe the car hit a blue smurf. looks like the orig blue i love the 69 SW one of my favs. not 40k i think johnny
