My friend is looking to buy some radial red line tires for his 69GS. What is the largest radial he can use with no clearance issue. Stock suspension chrome stock 14 inch wheels.
    Thanks

The car probably came with a G70-14. Closest to that is a P225/70R-14.

Thanks. The car came with F70-14's. Looking for maybe a larger tire.

Problem is you are very limited with 14" wheels. There is much more of a selection with 15" wheels. Also, the 68-69 cars had smaller wheel wells so you need more back space to get some wider rubber in there.

If he’ll switch to 15s he can run a 245/60/15 (equivalent to G60-15) with no trouble. I’ve seen 255/60/15s fit, but I would eyeball it. The problem with 14s is 225/70/14 is the right height; if you want wider but not shorter it would require a 255 or 265 which doesn’t seem to exist. (225x.70=157.5. 157.5/.6 =262.5).

Thanks everyone for the info. I'll pass it on to my friend.

Will 275/50/17 rubber on a 4.5 backspace rim fit with inner wheel lips removed and jacked up on 2" blocks fit?
    TIA, Curtis.

8" rim? I doubt it. You need more back space on the 69.

I have 255/70/15's on the rear of my 69. 225/70/15 on the front. I had 235/60/15 all around before .
