Are the trunk lids for a 69 Skylark hardtop the same as for a convertible? The one I have is flush in the center, but the corners are high compared to the body.

Okay... I replied to this a few minutes ago and for some reason it's gone. Anyway, all 68 and 69 trunk lids are the same. The trim is the only difference between the GS and Skylark. Looks like you may have to "tweak" the lid or find another that fits better.

What exactly do you mean by "the corners sit high"? Does the trunk lid appeared bent or are there perhaps too many shims on the hinges?

I will get some pictures up this weekend to show what I mean.

You can see from this one that the corner is high, but the center of the trunk is level with the rear panel.

That's peculiar. With the edges that high up, is the center of the trunk lid level with the read deck lid?

    Yes, it is level.

That is off quite a bit. Have the rear quarters been replaced?

    Yes they have.

Is that the original lid? I had an extra one and tired to get it to fit my car, it just wouldn't fit no matter how I adjusted it. I had to go back to the original lid. I'd try another one, if you have it? I have an extra, which if you were closer you could try it. There's also a NOS one that's for sale on Minneapolis Craigs List, been there forever, guy wants $850 for it:spank: I offered him $150 and never heard back.

Does the other side line up? You might have to bend it to fit?

This lid is off a 68. And it is like that on both sides. I can't remember what the original one looked like, other than rusty as all get out. I'll have to look around for another to try. If not, I'll have to start bending a little.

Okay, are both sides off that far? Take some measurements of both quarters and see if they are the same distances up from ground. (Assuming your suspension is level) If they are relatively close then as has been said, you may have to bent your existing lid or find another that fits better.
Or if the quarters are off you could always remove them and re install. But that all depends on how correct you want your car now doesn't it. Big job...

Yeah, that looks like your best option.

Someone may have walked down the center of that lid at somepoint. I may need to be bent back into position. 2x4 at the center of the lid in the jamb area, the apply downward pressure raising the center. There may be some adjustability at the hinge side for up and down.

Someone walked on my hood at the scoop area. Was a bear to fix.
