Hi Mike. It's going to be Silver Blue Metallic. I ordered one of those "everything to paint your car" deals from Kirker paints. I did some poking around on the paint and body message boards and found out that the Kirker stuff is actually pretty good. Of course we are still trying to keep this thing low buck and I'm painting it myself and it's my first paint job so I didn't want to spend a load of cash on paint just in case I screw it up. :TU: Are you heading down to BG this year? Chris and I are taking my vert down there and I hope to see you there. If not maybe Norwalk or Salem.
Of course we are still trying to keep this thing low buck and I'm painting it myself and it's my first paint job so I didn't want to spend a load of cash on paint just in case I screw it up. :TU: Me and my check book must have missed that. :beer Seriously guys Todd has been working really hard on this thing and I think it will turn out just fine. The engine will be delivered to Earrick racing next week on our way to BG
We had hoped to get the paint sprayed by next week but the weather here has been lrainy for the last week so we are going to have to wait until it dries out a little.
No BG for me this year. Earick has my engine and we just bought a new house. 2 - 2 car garages at the new house. WooHoo
You must be one of the guys ahead of me. Todd and I aare heading there om Wednesday to drop off all the parts I have rounded up for the build.
Yeah the paints on but it could have went on better. I've got a few sags and runs here and there. The driver door and qp I think I may sand down and shoot again. The paint seemed like it was flowing out ok but I turned my head and when I looked back it was a runnin. :af: The clear was a bummer. I couldn't get it to flow out on the car. I tried reducing and playing with the pressure a bit but it still went on kind of grainy like. The flat panels, hood, roof and trunk flowed out decent but the vertical panels are very grainy. We are going to do some wet sanding to see if we can clean it up some. Oh well. I guess all in all it's not bad for a rookie painter but it's probably a ten footer at best. The most important thing is how it looks going down the track right? :TU: BTW if you guys have any advice as far as making the clear look better please chime in.
