    Update:
This truck is awesome,I had several offers for it but I at this point I am not ready to sell it.
I have to admit I didn't drive her much this TX summer it was crazy hot for a looking time and it's still a old style engine I am.sure I would have overheated + my daily is just to comfortable.
But I guess a lot of people had this hot summer.

I have to check on a exhaust leak.

However My shop is occupied with another project.
    Probably something the Forum.dont like
ITS A LS. But a bit unusual.
    A 5.3 Turbo into a 06 bmw e90
    I'm excited.

How the heck does that happen anyway?? It happened to me twice in the last year, the rear vac port cap blew off. If it's under vacuum how can they come off? I've never lost one in my life and lost 2 in one year. I could understand them dry rotting but coming off? I guess if they are too loose....?

    Hey guys short update
i had the truck for Sales on here for a bit.
This was mainly because of the significant other and me ALWAYS doing to much....
Well i decided to put my foot down and not sell her ( don't tell her ahaha)

With that said i am planning on updates:

Mini spool for the oem 12 bolt ( i don't like the 1 legger )
Bump steer fix: Due to its sitting nice and low the tie rods need to be looked @ and i have a solution for that to square it up and make it "safe"|
I also plan on building a full Exhaust for it, maybe a X pipe setup, however at least i have to chase a exhaust pin hole leak that annoys me a lot.
Further i have to see how to make her more reliable in the TX heat i have to admit this last summer was brutal hot and i haven't driven my hot rods really because of that.
i dont want to burn down this old engines :)
I admit as well that i was thinking about putting a LS in it sine i have a couple and i love LS, this would cure a lot of the Questions marks in terms of reliability etc.
However i had good success with the HOLLEY SNIPER setup on my 68 GS, so i think i will Do that to this C10s 455'... this should help and is the more economy friendly solution since the motor is absolutly fine there is physically no reason to swap it out.

I might put a cam in it i have a Stockish cheater cam laying arround that i could use ...i dont have touch the valve train.

I would love to do a wheel swap, however i left the truck a 6 lug and the choice is not that big with 6x5.5 and i kinda like the rat rod style wheels lol ( maybe some centerline styles?

This are the plans for 023'

i forgot i have a LUNATI SUPER STOCK CAM grind sitting arround i could use with new stock lifters.
i am thinking about if its worth it to get into this work vs the OEM stock cam

    cam specs:

    LUNATI the cam is
    256/260 @50
    400/466 Lift //1.55 rockers
    Lobe sep. 110 / 4* advanced

Further i was thinking about building a cold air intake ... I Still have a Spectra turbo carb hat on the shelf.
It should help with ambiant temps
What you think? i will try to add some budget performance lol

Whoa, if that cam really has 256/260 degrees duration @ .050" lift, that is a ton of duration and would produce a very rough idle and kill all your low end. Plus I don't think it would be compatible with your low compression stock motor. But if that is the advertised duration, and with that .400"/.466" lift, then that looks a lot like a Stage 1 cam with a little tighter lobe separation and should work great.

    Lol ahahah
yea its a NHRA Super stock grind , so it makes sense that its Stage 1 ish ....

i called Lunati to confirm the grind , they said its a custom grind for sure a cheater cam

So what you say YES or NO lol
i wonder if stock pushrods would work?

I can t use longtubes so i have to use stock manifolds due to space in the C10 frame rails, so thats another concern if its worth it , if i can make the engine breathe free

That cam will be a dog in a stock shortblock,...I wouldn't use it

Those cams are designed for stock heads true,..but also designed for a full 2 pt more compression than stock and 8in converters,...with mild compression and a street converter it would be a turd

Funny Ethan.. stock heads in Stock eliminator.. that's would be a rare sight.. but I know what you mean..

No, That's way too big a cam for your application. You need a mild increase in duration to boost bottom end torque, not a massive increase.

    ----------------------

I am wonder about one thing... why do you think LS motors are more reliable than your BBB? I am just curious here.

In my opinion, I think the LS in factory form with all the electronics is less reliable, and if you take all the electronics off the LS, put a carb and distributor in it, then it's just another pushrod V8 engine.. no more or less reliable.

Hundreds of thousands of BBB's roamed the landscape as daily drivers in the 70's and 80's. I know, I grew up with them, and there was never any reliability issue as a daily driver.

IN fact they were more reliable than any of the LS engines in my 3 GMT800 vehicles. The only vehicle that has ever left me by the side of the road is my 2000 Suburban when the fuel pump failed out in Wisconsin.

Don't get me wrong, I love the LS engines, especially the LQ9 6L in my 2500 burb and my Escalade.. but I don't consider them any more reliable than older iron.

Any comment on building a COLD AIR INTAKE , i have plenty of material here so it would be a 0 $ mod for me

i understand where you coming from and i have certainly not tried a coast to coast trip with the C10.. however i have to admit this last summer it was freaking hot here in TX , and the climate change IS REAL it wasnt that hot in the 70/80s so there was no need to adress this temperatures for a engine design.
I am not saying the LS platform is build for it, but its all in all a more efficient design. Thats a simple fact, thats evolution of engineering, by making production processes more available and adding of newer technology. Thats just the name of the game.
It would be sad if we wouldn't have improved our technologic designs.

I am already commited to improve this 455 with EFI.

Btw has anybody of you guys heard and tried ACES EFI?
they have interesting kits for such a build

Honestly you'll see no gain with a just running a pipe to the bottom of the rad support,...for a gain you need ram air,..they the bumper via ducts,..or the cowl plenum

I would use the lower grill opening on the driver side,..make an aluminum duct 4in tall,..12in long funneling it to a 4in opening the feed that to an enclosed gm air cleaner assembly with the single big snorkel off a Camaro,..Vette,..80s Silverado etc,...that will provide a true gain that can be felt above 50mph

One of those thumper cams actually had decent profiles for torque production and midrange with their low lift and tight LSA,...one of those with a 3200 stall,..and it would tear some tires all to hell and pull to 5500
