Really been looking into wapping the stock carb out my '69 Skylark 350-2.
Looking at a TA Stage 1 - 4 barrel intake with with an edelbrock carb.

I did had a shop tell me that adding this will not give me any horsepower gains and just an increase in fuel consumption, unless I put a more agressive camshaft in the engine aswell.
Going by some older threads on this forum, I've seen loads of people installing just the 4 barrel setup. So just wondering if I do need to go the camshaft route aswell or if I can just go ahead with the swap only.

    Thanks for clarifying

If you swap on an QJet instead of the Edelbrock(Carter AFB) carb, you will get better fuel mileage (as long as you keep your foot out of it) due to the smaller primaries. You need to find a Buick 350 QJet though, and not just any QJet(like from a Chevy or other motor).

Get with one of the QJet rebuilders here on the board. They should be able to supply you with a core QJet to rebuild to your motor specs.

You wouldn't need to change your cam. You will get more power due to a bigger carb putting more fuel/air in. Don't know how much, but you'll feel it.
