My 68 is rusted out around lower rear window and rear deck filler from vinyl top. There are aftermarket rear deck filler panels for 70-72, but not 68-69. It's my belief that where the panel meets rear window, that contour/shape should be the the same for 68-72, and that the difference would be how it fits up to trunk lid.

Therefore, thinking I can buy the 70-72 filler and cut it down the middle the long way and just splice in "upper" portion below rear window? Anyone have experience in this area?

    Thanks

Max Damage I'm working on it!

I think it's the same. If you look up Duane's amazing "Motion Equipped" 1969 GS build thread you can see he used this part on his car and they didn't suggest it was a lot of rework...

No need to splice anything, the replacement panel is the same for 68-72.

We used one for my 69 car and it fit like a glove. Nick had the old panel out and the new panel installed in no time. I think it took him longer to weld the studs back on, for the molding clips, then it did to replace the panel.

The rear windows are also the same for 68-72.

Thanks for the info guys! Interesting that I can find no reference to 68-69 filler panels online but everyone has 70-72 listed. I guess that's one less thing I need to worry about then.

    Thanks again
