Gentlemen, Do any of you have experience or knowledge about the feasibility of putting 68 hardtop doors on a 69 GS 400 vert. I know this is not "correct" but its my car and I love vent windows. I have read here that there is a difference in the 68 hrdtop vent window frame vs. the vert. I need to know just how much difference there is and why or why not will the doors work. Thanks for your help, Scott
I'll go out on a limb here and guess that they'll work. I have two '68s in my driveway, a coupe and a convertible. The vent window glass looks the same. The frame around it looks to be the same except the 'vert has a rain gutter built in. I will guess that your only problem will be with the weatherstrip either not sealing or being in the way. You might have to use a section of '68 coupe w'strip on the A pillar. Again, this is a guess from eyeballing it. Patrick.
Patrick, Thanks so much for your first hand info on my question. I think you are right . The doors will work fine as long as I use the 68 wstrip. Again, Thank you for your help! Scott
You're welcome. I also prefer vent windows. I also enjoy figuring out where things are interchangeble vs. not. (examples like the difference in El Camino fenders compared to Chevelle and wagon, and GS-Monte Carlo decklids). Good luck. Patrick
