    Happy Thanksgiving!
My project has run into yet another setback.... grrr and I need some advise. I hope, I have placed this in the right section.

BLUF: Can the quarter panels that Year One sells be used on a convertible or are they only for coupes?

I picked up mostly for the rear inner fender wells. I wanted to use the upper part of the quarter from the donor because the trunk seal lip (rotted) and the top section (badly pitted). I am asking because the body line on the donor car (coupe) quarter panels are significantly different than the lines on my convertible. In the second picture you can see a section from my car laid over the section of the quarter that I thought I would have been able to use, but the body lines are really different as compared to each other. Please see the pictures, does anyone have any advise??

I have looked at the differences and squinted and looked and here's my guess-- The decklid and the area immediately around it ( where the weatherstrip goes and the water runs) are the same, and I think the quarters below the character line ( and an inch or so above it) are the same. The flying buttress that goes up around the rear window on the coupe is what doesn't exist on the 'vert, so there's just a flat fender top to the quarter. That part (IMHO) is all that is different. If I read your question correctly, the donor will work for the rain gutter area but beyond that to the edge and down to the character line would need to fabricated or sourced from a convertible. Again, I'm not a body man, just someone whose squinted at both a lot. Hope it helps. Patrick.

The repro quarters are for a coupe. The lower portion below the body line can be used on a convertible. This takes some patience and skill to repair. From what I can see of your pictures you will need some donor parts and multiple cut lines to put it back together.

Started cutting and shaping from the donor car this weekend. I have not started to weld it in yet but plan to next weekend after it is sandblasted and cleaned up. Wish me luck fellows!
