    Hi all,

I need some help here, I'm thinking of putting a 400/430/455 in my '66 Skylark GS. I want to retain my 4-speed in the process. Does anyone know if this is a fairly easy change over. I know the '66 clutch linkage is nothing like the '67, will the '67 linkage work in a '66 car if I mount the z-bar bracket ? If not I might have to persue a '69 Skylark GS with a stick instead, and sell the '66.

    Thanks,
    Harry

if you can find the 67 components then they will fit right on a 66 car. about the only thing you can use from the 66 will be the pedal assy. on the 68-72 cars it's now easy to find the 4 speed parts since one of our members is reproducing the hard to find parts. hope this helps

    Frank,

I agree but it's so hard to find parts for the car. My clutch even after all the machine shop work still does not want to let the car in reverse when it's hot, I have to shut the car off first.

I've actually been thinking about trying to do a straight up trade for a '69 stick Skylark GS in about the same shape as mine, hardtop/conv whatever, there is a post in the 'cars wanted' section about it just because it's easier to find parts for, plus I used to have a '69 stick car and really miss it. see this post for a pic.
