Just saw that you had your own section and figured I would ask my question here. Will this carb that you built for me years ago work on my stock 430 intake manifold? I assume that this will get to Ken? My apologies for multiple posts, but if the correct carb gasket is needed I figured Ken would be able to answer which one.

    Thanks

Whats the carb number on that carb? 66 and 67's have a kinda wide carb pad, I'd think it would work but you might need a spacer for clearance if its a 68-74 4m baseplate.

air horn # is 17053731 body # 17056244. Ken built it for a 350 with 10:25:1 compression a TA284 cam, ported / polished heads with TA stainless valves. I attached a picture of the 1/4" thick gasket that was sent with the carb

Looks like the 67 intake has the wide early carb pad with heat channels.

Definitely a mismatch between the carb pad and baseplate there.

so this won't work? Or do I need something?

    Thanks

You do need something: either 1/4 " base gasket or a 1/2 spacer to raise the carb far enough above the intake so that the primary throttle shaft (and all it's associated linkage) will not contact the intake pad during it's operating range. The one thing you do NOT want is to have the throttle jamb open against the intake. As these gaskets and spacers will likely not cover the entire heat trough, my suggestion is to tap and plug the heat passages on either side of the carb pad with a 1/8 npt pipe plug, preventing an exhaust leak at the manifold.

The base gasket shown, in post #3, is 1/4" and what Ken had sent with the carb initially. I will check the fit and make sure there is no concern with the throttle operation and see if it covers the heat trough. If not is my best bet to plug the heat crossover on the intake manifold? If I were to plug the intake would that ensure that I won't have any leaks? Any opinions on heat shields? Thanks for the help.
