what gear ratios did the 66 specials came with?i got a 66 special with 225cid and 3 spd column.and wondering what the rear gear ratios are on it befoer i swap em out.
I think the V-6 came standard with A 3.23:1 (open)-at least my '65 "Facts and Features" book indicates that for '65. (3-speed synchromesh for sedans, coupe and convertible) The std for the Wagon was 3.36 (with 3-speed synchromesh)
ratio yes , usually the way it works is the smaller the engine the higher the gear...lol this is because the small engine has less torque to move the car there fore it needs the help from some where...the gears. It still hold true today look at most of the s-10 rearend 2.5 4 cylinders , they come with 4.10 and 3.73 gears. and the six cylinders are 3.42 and 3.08 ratio. Jim
Yup! ....3.23..... V6 with std trans.....Just bought one this year for parts. In addition, the V6 tranny had a lower first gear than the 3 speed used with the 300 engine. The 300+ std trans had a 3.36 rear.
alright!!3.23 thats what i wanted.im going to install a 455 with bg t10.i was thinking of installing some 355s but if i got 323s a lot better.im still going to check but at least like this im not going to buy gears unless i open it up and find out i got 2.78 or something.but if theres 323s im just going to install a posi.thanxs everybody!! :TU:
