I'm wondering if my car is rare...

(I know I'm not the first!) But after searching the internet for weeks I have found only ONE other YC paint code car! A cream with white top GS belonging to Jimmy Shiels.

I see Buick made about 10,000 1966 Special Deluxe 300 but I cannot find how many were YC paint code. Should I call Buick and ask?

Anyway, I had the 300 rebuilt, keeping it stock, engine and trans go back in this week!

If you love it, that is all that matters.

Own it, make it yours, and share it.

Lot's of people will appreciate it.

You can try contacting Buick or the Sloan Museum, but I don't think they kept a record of the colors.
They have 'Daily Car Reports' which show what % of cars came with the various individual options.
I have a '66 Special Deluxe too. I added a 5 speed stick behind the 300, front disk brakes, fast ratio steering, and fat sway bars.
    I love it too!

Love the red and black! The chrome trim on the rear quarters is my favorite feature on special deluxe.

I have front disc kit and fast ratio gear ready to get put in. Are your wheels 15" ?

    Yes, 15x7. 235/60-15 front, 255/60-15 rear.

Last weekend got the engine and trans in. Front disks in. New (old) wheels 15x7 235/60/15 in front 15x8 255/60/15 in back.

First start this weekend. I'm nervous. An expert I know recommended reving up to 1800 - 2000 rpm for 30 min on first start to properly break in the camshaft.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Yes. You need oil splash on the bottom cylinders, the camshaft and to get/keep lifters spinning, as well as build some heat on the cam lobes and lifter faces.

Varied RPM keeps things moving correctly and ensures enough splash to lube, clean and cool.

Keep it above 2000 RPM, and about 3500 tops. (It won't hurt if it drops for a few seconds)
    But avoid any idling.

Keep an eye on temps. If you start seeing temps heading to 230F shut it down and let it cool for several hours before finishing the break in.

Are you using break in oil or non-synthetic and ZDDP additives?
