My dash is half apart, trying to figure out how to take the cluster out, does the dash pad and the cluster surround have to come out?

    Thanks

I think its close to the 67, which I have. Everything is so tight in those dashes that you do need to pull the pad off to get to the fasteners at the top of the cluster and the speedo cable. That's the one main thing holding the cluster in place after all the fasteners are removed.

Just did mine, yes dash pad first, then screws on upper cluster, Then lower cluster. I removed air vent globes to access 2 lower bolts. Then I removed radio, ash tray, and clove box to access remaining bolts. Biggest struggle was the HVAC controls. I'm sure others will have a more streamline approach.

    Fred,

do you remember how many bolts there we’re holding the cluster in?

If 67 is the same, I can count the fasteners for you. My dash pad is off.
