Can someone advise the correct colour for the red interior of my gran sport? I understand there are two reds? I am wanting to repaint or dye the door carpets finish, and dye/paint if possible the door panels. Just can’t understand which red it is for my information on the car. does Sem offer these colors?

The correct red is a medium metallic kinda red. the second red your thinking of (maybe?) is the contrasting seat panel red in the 2 dr coupe seat covers, which was a darker red, almost maroon

Seems my dash was the kinda metallic red and seats different. Where can I get those dyes or paint to refresh versus replace interior? thanks for your help bigpig455

Thanks guys - Robin, my car is the same way. there's about 4-5 different shades of medium metallic red in there, right from the factory depending on the component. So as a rule, for the interior hard pieces, use the metal dash color (which you'd probably have to have custom mixed) For soft pieces use the door panel, he dash pad is a color all it's own..again, to be totally correct each a custom mix of dye. I doubt anything off the shelf will be correct

Thanks all for your help, thankfully my dash pad is mint shape, so I’ve got to tinker with the soft parts colour over time.
was the door panel carpet insert red same as door panel?

yes, or at least as close as 50 years of fading would allow

Different batch’s of Vinyl will age at different rates. This is a very common thing with car interiors.

It is often so bad that people think their interiors we’re tu-tone even when they were not.

You also might think that an entire interior came from the same batch of vinyl. That is almost never the case with factory interiors, as the pieces were cut in batches and then thrown into a box to be sewn up later. When new the pieces were all the same color, but after 40-50 years………..

If you want to see what the original colors were and are getting new seat covers, you can open up a seam to see what they looked like when new.

You need to get to an area where the air/ozone could not get to it.
