Where do you guys recommend purchasing rear control arm bushings? I understand '64 used a smaller bushing at 1 pair of locations. Seems like places offer kits with 8 bushings all the same. Also, are all the vendors carrying the same part and makes no difference where you buy, so get the best overall deal.
    Thanks

I put a 64 olds rear in my Buick. OPGI carry’s the smaller upper “ear” bushings. Last year I got one and one was back ordered for a month. . Ended up going to NPD and picking up what I needed.

I saw that OPGI carries all the bushings. They show 6 of one type and 2 of the smaller ones. Odd thing is, they have the kit listed with 6 and 2 for $190, but if you buy 3 pairs of the larger ones and 2 singles of the smaller ones it adds up to $145. Not sure how the shipping works out.

Honestly I’m pretty sure for the bigger ones I bought Moogs off from Rock Auto

Maybe. It depends on where they measured the dia.
There are 3 different diameters on the bushing.....The end at the flange is the largest dia, opposite end is the smallest, and the middle.
    RareParts specs theirs at:
    Large dia= 1.416"
    Small dia= 1.354"

    OPGI says 1.42"

The stock is reported to be 1.375" ....in the center?
    https://www.chevelles.com/forums/16...ear-upper-control-arm-bushing-dimensions.html

The diameter in the center is the one that matters since that's where it resides in the diff housing.

I don't have too much faith in OPGI's descriptions or specs. I would only buy theirs if they would measure for you it before purchasing....

Found the Rare Parts Bushings at FCRC Machine for $38 each, $8.76 shipping. Rare parts site is $40 each and $15. shipping. Same original brand and part #, Saved $10

NAPA wants $59 each, Autozone wants $56 each

FWIW, I installed the OPGI bushings this morning. Paid $19.99 per bushing. Stuck them in a freezer for 24 hours and used a ball joint press.

I installed mine the same way. Did the loaner tool from Auto Zone. I put a thin film of faucet grease on the bushing sleeve and inside the eyes on the rear. Went in nice with the ball joint press.

Yup, used good ole 40 weight on mines. Glad they only need to be done every 55 years or so...LOL
