Trans date codes as a 68 also. I think you're right.

Use the converter from your Skylark with the ST400 if the ST400 is a switch pitch. The column shift linkage will hook right up if you take the bracket off of the ST300, but the gates in the column will be a little hinkey but not totally awful to manage. It will clear the 64-67 brake booster just barely with stock valve covers and maybe a little slotting of the booster holes if you want to be able to pull the valve cover. The only bummer is nobody makes a reproduction 67 GranSport fan shroud any more. The cheapo universal Summit cross flow alum radiator can be made to fit with a little bit of effort and will out cool a 4-core copper unit. The TA headers are tight, and depending on how much your frame has sagged it may require a little notching along with some header denting for some clearance. Or run the manifolds no problem depending on your goals. Yes, the TA single plane and even the SPX will fit under the hood with the right repro 14" aircleaner for a 67 396 Chevelle. Convert it to a throttle cable from a donor GM car. You will need the 67-72 GranSport power steering brackets that I think TA now carries. Assuming it is in decent condition to start with, the 8.2 differential will live just fine unless you really beat on it.

Yes, I've done it, twice, the last one with 15-years of tinkering/tweaking the same car. This is a relatively easy swap and all of the details/requirements have been covered and can be found with a search here. Please forgive the hurried abrupt and disjointed summary, but from the top of my head that is all of the hard stuff in a nutshell. The rest of the challenges are common to any engine swap. You will grin for a week after your first drive. "When better Buicks are built, it may be you who built one." HAVE FUN!!!

No switchpitch, just a BOP TH400. Plan on leaving the engine relatively stock for now. 4BBL cast intake and exhaust manifolds are staying. Nice to know on the radiator. I have the Electra and the Skylark shrouds to play with, I'm sure I can get one to fit right. The 8.2 will get a limited slip eventually unless I find a 64-67 out of a Chevelle before I build it. Just want a smooth, torquey cruiser.
