Does anyone have a parts source for a 62 Buick full size driveshaft CV joint? Apparently it's an obsolete item and no one makes parts for it anymore.

I was hoping to avoid having a new driveshaft made. Any ideas?

Apparently you can get a recent model Hyundai Sonata CV joint off the shelf and a good shop should be able to make it fit; - that's what happened with my 66 Electra. Both ball and socket were trashed. I don't know how much cutting and welding they had to do but it's been 2 years and 4000 miles and there have been no issues.
Also try Tom Telesco, he might have something that will work...

    Adam,

I have a driveshaft out of a '61 LeSabre 4dr. sedan. I would have to check the lengths & CV joint.
ALSO have a shaft from a '66 WildCat that does have a CV joint which has only 52K on it. Will have to pull it & take some measurements.
Unfortunately I'm NOT laying in the snow in 20* weather so will have to wait until things get a little better.

Is the driveshaft from the 61 already out?

When I had my driveshaft shortened and rebuilt in 2010, the shop I used apparently sourced parts for a "limo" for the slip yoke and double cardan joint. Not sure how different the parts were, but it lasted 10 years until I blew it up at the drag strip last year.

I ended up having a custom shaft made. Sold the car a couple weeks ago

So they were able to make a CV joint?

No they eliminated it and made a whole new 2-piece shaft
