Hi all. Other than Facebook, does anybody know a good resourceful place to hunt for project 59 Buick and parts? I have a 59 LeSabre, but NC will not issue me a title no matter what I do. I have talked to the DMV and inspector on several occasions. I am kind of looking for a project with a TITLE. I know that is a tall order, but any help would be great. Thanks. Jerry.

    Jerry,
I don’t know much about them (never done one) but can’t we do a “bonded title” here in North Carolina (was going to research it soon for my truck) or is that not a good option?

    Thanks,
    John

Yes I guess under normal circumstances. But then I guess you are potentially stuck with it for 3 years. My car Apparently “crossed the scales” and is deemed scrap. Which is heart breaking because it has so much potential. I think Flying Buick may have some insight on this?

I have a 57 Pontiac that was bonded. I had a title, but the year was not a n the title. So they issued me a NCS number and I had to bond it. That was 20 years ago though.

Regardless, I am kind of hunting a project 59 Buick near me. Any insight would be great.

PM me your number & will call you if I see anything if you’d like.

There was a website dedicated to 59's, but it doesn't seem to be working now (www.buick-59.com). You could join the Buick Club of America website as there is more action over there for the 59's and other cars,(buickclub.org). @Centurion on this site and the BCA site would be someone I would contact for all info on 59's.

    Good luck!

Yeah- buick-59 went dormant a number of years ago. There's still excellent tech/research info on it (I did last look at it early this year).
The main artery right now seems to be the 1959 Buick chapter of the BCA (on FB).
I've had my Invicta bubbletop for a few decades and have taken the body off the frame (LONG resto-mod project); I know B-59s pretty well. I'll never sell mine tho.

I think I am a member of that group and I check a few times a day for that magical restoration project for my sons and I. I see some with no titles, but it is soooo difficult to get titles in n NC if the vehicle doesn’t have one.

I have a 59 Lesabre, but it is pretty rough but fixable. But I unfortunately purchased it from a salvage yard before crushing and NC will not give me title. Even if I bond it. They are a pain. I was forced to bond my 57 Starchief, but in the process, my VIN number became a NCS issued number. So it still has a valid title, but my not be worth anything to a collector since the VIN is not original.

Are there still title services around?
In 2004 I bought a truck from a neighboring state without a title. (Then) my state had a procedure to obtain a title, which was cheap but took over a month to execute all requirements. But I got a state title with the original serial number.
After comparing that '04 experience, I would've rather done a title service like I did back in the 90s.

    Now that is a project.
