Boy Jim, that looks great. I could run with some of those big Mopars in NSS if I had that bullet. Of course I can't have the intake and 1050s, so that would cost me a 100hp or more, but still fun. Thanks for the post.

    Thanks Jim..

Actually I think I could build about 825 Hp with a single 4.

I am waiting for the new TA block, with the new TA heads, so we can crack the 1000 HP mark, naturally aspirated.. Need a bigger bore and more headflow to get there.

Thanks for the post JW,Things have been quiet here lately.

Yes Jim, a 529 is small compared to the Mopars and Chevys I run with. If they are not 600-700 inches they don't think they have an engine. Also I'm stuck with a Q-jet or AFB until I can run 9.75 then I can use a 850 Holley, but still with a cast intake. I'm not bitching, I'm proud to run 10.20s with a basic stock bottom end and the rpm level it keeps me at. BUT- someday I hope to give these guys a little surprise when I run in the 8s too.

Nice build Jim. Can't wait to see the numbers on a TA blocked engine! A new frontier is upon us.

Hey Jim I would like to see the lower-full rpm numbers on a combo like that just for grins....it might be neat to see what a top end monster like that puts down low compared to regular street builds.....thanks John

Agreed...at what rpm was the engine beginning to handle the dyno's load?

the lowest we pulled this thing at was 4600..

with this cam and intake setup, and the use of the motor, looking at numbers lower than 4500 has little value for us, so we did not gather that info. I don't imagine it would be tremendously impressive at say 3000 rpm.. you can still hear the cam lope at 2500..

2 dommies on a tunnel ram, with a 283* duration cam is not what your going to do if your looking for 3500 rpm driveablity..

That said, it did make 729 ft lbs and 638 HP at 4600..

And it also made 648 torque and 864 HP at 7000 rpm..

this motors operating range is 5400 to 7200 rpm.

We will shift it at about 6700.

Going in the car today, I will take some pics for you guys

yeah, i saw the HP was still climbing at your rpm cutoff. any plans to do a dyno run to redline?

We pulled it to 7000 on the very last run.. no problems. But the peak was 6600, it pretty much flattens out after that, falls off a couple. Makes 864 at 7000 rpm.

should get George is 8 second slip for sure. Don't know what it ways since you added the lite parts but at 3200 8.99 149mph. I'm sure he would love that.:TU:

Heeeeyyy, now you're making me uncomfortable. Of course Bobb, I know that you enjoy the hell out of that, don't ya?
Jim, I'm sure you could make 825 without a problem with a single quad, mine makes 840 with one carb and George's bottom end used to be pretty close to mine, no? Heads flow a lot better, that's for sure. My dinosaur Stage2s only flow 340. Wanna lend me those heads and intake for a couple of weeks? I promise to give them back.

Hey Gary, my place in Buick history is secure. First GS into the Eights (December of '99) and World's Fastest GS for nine years running. Only one person gets to be first at anything. I've had my turn. Now George is lined up to be #1. And Bobb too, if he can EVER get his act together! I'm kinda surprised it's taken this long, and I can't even fight them off this season. If I get out, it'll be with a soft combination.

I don't think you have to worry about him hunting down your et record Doug.. we don't have the kind of air around here that will make that happen.. it's a "good day" around here when the Adjusted alt around here is 1500'..

    Here's a couple pics

    Nobody home...

The man himself putting the secondary accel pump arm back on the rear 1050 dominator carb.. we don't use the rear pumps on the carb for the dyno.

and she's in... just imagine how much he has invested in braided stainless alone... I'm sure it's over a grand..
