Hi JW, my 494 suffered some major damage a while back due to oil starvation and clueless leadfoot(me), the jury is still out what happened exactly, but at least some rod bearings and 2-3 rods took some serious beating, same goes for the stroker crank. My engine guy deemed those 2-3 rods unsalvageable and the crank is also pretty iffy, may have to grind a new one from a stocker which I have, we shall see.

The stroker kit was from TA back from 2004 if I remember correctly.
    - 10.5 comp, TA SE 1 heads ported by Greg Gessler Level 3 /343Cfm intake
    - TSP SP1 ported intake+TSP billet fuel pump, sending unit and fuel line, AED 950 Holley
    - TSP Stage 2 converter-Awesome piece!
My older user name was Kb149 in case you were wondering, lost my old computer and password etc, hence the new user name:).

Question for you Jim is are the KBR #B3494-FP Molnar rods readily available or are they on back order, maybe you have another option? I would consider a good used set also.
To replace those TA/Crower( Part# TA 1632A) rods is way too expensive at this point, TA quoted around 400 Usd- for 1 rod. Yikes!
Let me know what you come up with Jim.

    Thank you!

    Hi Antti,

Not sure if they have them in stock.. Give Molnar Tech a call directly on Monday. 1-616-940-4640

The Molnar part number is BH6700LTB8-A

That is a 6.7" rod.. beware, that there are a lot of 494 Kits out there floating around with 7" rods..

You could have Tom make you a whole custom set for what a couple of those Crowers are selling for.. YIKES..

Good luck getting it back together.

Thank you for your quick reply, I´ll contact them as soon as I know what the plan is, but this is starting to look pretty good.

Thank you again Jim and all the best,

    Antti

    Hi Jim!
Looks like the Molnar 494 rods are not available anytime soon, I just got another reply from Molnar and they were very helpful but couldn`t give any timeline for the rods.
Maybe it`s time to for a new plan, I was thinking a 464 or a 470 since I have a good stock crank and a girdled 4.35 bore block.
Do you still sell 470 rod/piston kits? If not in stock, what is the waiting time for these?
    Thank you,
    Antti

    P.S
JW helped me to get my old Kb149 username back, thanks again Jim !

Hi Ben, that would be another option for sure at his point. I just want to get some rods and pistons, 464,470 or 482...what ever is available sometime soon or early next maybe.
    Thank you!
