I have a very nice set of 455 T/A black krinkle finish valve covers (about 2 years old), Taylor 8mm plug wires (yellow, little dirty, NOT HEI type!), and the aluminum plug wire looms from T/A that run the length of the covers. I took them off because I went back to a more stock look. I want them to go to a deserving home, and to a somewhat "needy" person. I mean, someone who maybe would not have the cash to buy $200.00 worth of stuff right now. If ya make big bucks, let the cash strapped guy have a treat, OK? Free shipping too! It will prob take a few days to ship though. :TU: Here's the stuff:
What a guy! You are going to make someones day... I would like the stuff but I got money. I am going to have to give some stuff away myself, If I ever get the car put back together...
Oh ya, please feel free to list who you think should get the stuff. You can PM me if you want. I don't know enough of you guys to know who is the best person to get this stuff! o No:
I'm with them, I'd be all over them, but although I don't have a lot of spare money, I think there are needier people out there. Unfortunately they may end up with someone who wants to ebay them...
Derek, I tried PM'ing you a suggestion, but your box is full. Email me at seeverist -at- earthlink.net for my suggestion.
While I couldn't use the wires (I have an HEI), I have always wanted to put on aftermarket valve covers. I just don't know where I stand as far as my finances go. Its definetly below average I would think when compared to others on the board and I work 7 days a week at the moment if that makes any difference. I couldn't put them on the car, though, right away so if someone else, in need, needs them for a more active project, let them have it.
I would also like to "apply" for these parts. There is no way I can afford them on my own with 3 kids and only my income to support us (wife stays home with our 3 week old and will for a while). I have been struggling to get a 455 together for over a year with the money I have and I am getting close now. Thanks, Chris
Derek What a great gesture and I applaud you for it. Even though I've had surgery on my shoulder and will be off 8 to 10 weeks without pay I wouldn't consider myself eligable for your offer, have to much stuff laying around myself. Also Chris in AR what kind of help do you need for your project. Dave Berry
Dave, I really appreciate you guys taking an interest in us guys that scrounge around for parts here and there when we can to keep our Buick hobby alive. As far as the 455 goes, I need to find someone with an extra lower 0.030 over Speed Pro moly ring (part # E289K-30, broke one when I was being stupid during assembly). I just need one, but hoping to find someone with an incomplete set because I really cannot buy another complete set for one ring. I am also in need of a carb for this motor. I was hoping to find an 800 cfm unit cheaply (ha ha) but no luck so far. At this point, I would settle for any decent, cheap 455 carb. These two items should complete the 455. I thought I had 455 motor mounts and frame pads for the 350 to 455 swap bought from a board member, but after sending him a check he disappeared and will not return emails or PMs. It has been 3 months now and I am still without 455 frame pads, but at least he never cashed the check. He was very active on the board and then suddenly gone. Thanks again, -Chris
Hey Chris, I'm a parts scrounger myself. Been on many trips to the local pull your own parts junkyards getting my stuff. Gonna be tough finding one ring unless you find someone whos had the same problem, you might even post your need in parts wanted, you might be surprized. Also I don't know how original you want to be but have you considered a Thermo-Quad carb? They only came in 800 and 850 CFMs sizes on passenger cars, if you know any Mopar guys you can gat them cheap. Ran one on my car the first two years I had it then changed to a Q-Jet, car ETs the same on both but the T/Quad was 1 MPH faster in the quarter. You'll probably have to get your frame pads new. If I run accross a 800 T-Quad cheap I'll let you know. Dave Berry
im a full time student and i have no job. i live on a fixed income. i would really like to apply to get these parts for my riv please add me to the list of applications! thanks curtis
Thinking.... o No: Give me a couple days guys... If I won a big fat lotto, I would set up the "Crazy D's Buick Fund". About $200,000 of stuff, and help. The summer party at the house would be incredible!
Ok, I have made my choice. This was kinda hard actually, which makes me think we need a kind of emergency/goodwill fund for some guys on here. I was contacted about a story about a board member that has hit some hard times lately, and has been a big help to several other board members. His name is Rick Henderson. So, the stuff will be shipped to him at no charge. Rick, I just need your shipping address, and I will ship them out next week. Thanks for everyones responses. Chris, did you find some mounts?
Derek, I think your decision is great :TU: :TU: I'm glad they are going to a deserving home. As for the mounts and frame pads, I don't expect to hear from the board member I made that deal with any time soon, so I am still looking for a good deal. Thanks for asking, Chris
