Anybody ever heard of a way to convert a 455 to serpentine belt drive? It would be pretty trick if I could come up with a way to do billet brackets for all the accesories also. Any ideas?

Check out the frontrunner system made for the BBC ny Vintage Air. Billett Aluminum and very slick. Copy that for our cars.

I am working an a serpentine system right now for the 455. It won't be a single belt system due to the water pump direction.
I do have available V groove billet pulleys.

Copy a GN .I would go as far as saying it would bolt on.Well the crank drive might be different.

When you get it sorted out, will be very cool....must be a way to use one belt..if the pump turns the other direction then run the belt around to the other side or does that cause other issues?? ....serpentine would be very cool....I have thought of it but because I would have to pay someone to machine them things would get real expensive, real fast...

I am about 75% done with the set-up. I spent the weekend machining the pulleys, now I just need to machine a couple of brackets. When it is done i will post pics.

Rob you are a man on a mission. Keep up the good work. See you at the Northeast GS/GN spring meeting on March 28th.

While we are on the topic, I heard a rumour that the 3.8 front accessory case was the same as the old 350, anyone verify this?? then could run all the puleys and belt....

Here's what I did for my 455, bought a ford crank pulley # 2008, drilled the buick bolt pattern into it, ford 5.0 water pump pulley (no mods), and a regular GM alt. pulley. Had a local machinist make a steel ring spacer for the middle opening of the ford crank pulley since it's a little larger than a buicks.
That's it, you might have to get a w/p pulley spacer kit ( $8 ) to help in linning up the crank and w/p pulleys.

The tensioner is used for my supercharger. Click on the link at the bottom and you'll see how it's used.

    How many do you want?

Although these are not billet pieces as shown in this thread, the system has the advantage of using stock pieces from the salvage yard to achieve a late model look and has a high performance result.

The assembled system view was in the development and the parts were not painted or powder coated.

I know this is a very old thread, but recently decided I want to drop a buick 455 into '92 buick roadmaster . It looks like most of the oem part you used came off a small block chevy set up? If so did you ever offer the extra brackets for sale and what else is needed for the conversion? I have the accessories from the 350 chevy that came with the car still would love to use them if possible. Rob
