    Eric,
I love that you retained the original dash in there!
You just need to find one of the factory clocks that sits on the dash to the right of the speedo area and put one of your gauges in it!

    Justin:
Talk to Pat duMaire at 4-D's auto in Hubbard. He has the black 62 w/GN motor in it. He can give you the ins and outs of these cars.

Would a 350 be an easier direct swap?

I bet it would be an almost drop in. The 350 and 215 are essentially the same block, just a little more deck height for the 350. You may have trouble with the exhaust manifolds.

My dream was to build a Gasser style car with a 425 Nailhead and injector stacks sticking up through the hood. I bet a Nailhead would fit easy being they are so narrow.

As for the tube chassis, there are 9 second Tempests running stock chassis with subframe connectors. They are a very rigid design for a unibody car.

I'm building a 61 skylark that hopefully will have a 350 in it. Its going gasser, straight axle. though, so motor mounts arn't even in the same state as yours. Another board member sent me a pm with a thread of a 61 with a 455. Got it int there but ran the up over the "frame" and then cut it through the wheel well. I can tell you the sub frame connects from the factory are crap. Not to argue with snowbound. The rest of the setup is really nice and ridged. They are there but only about .75 of an inch hat channels in the center. I've been cutting mine out from the top and putting 2x2 square tube in there. Also a ford 8.8 from an explorer would fit pretty well in my case. With wheels about 4" backspace they would look nice. Mine are 10 wide and stick out about 1.75 on each side. Thats 10's though. Also parallel leafs don't work so swell for the rear susp if you try and keep the rear or the car anywhere near the ground. My setup would need less than flat leafs.

Note, for a straight axle the speedway straight, par semi elip kit fit great, needed longer shackles though and had to cut 2 brackets per side off. Other wise pretty good.

I put a SBB in a 61 4 door Special for a little fun on the street. The floor boards had to be modified and it was tight.

Hey, don't worry about me! I'm just passing along info from the Pontiac board, not real life experience.

Keep us posted on the project!
