I'm kinda leaning toward a 3.70 gear and shifting at around 6100 rpm. Originally I bought a 308s cam from TA. My heads and intake flow enough to make well over 600 hp, but I wanted something mild and easy on the valve train. I'm going to try to make this cam work for now, I can always add more power later. Awsome car makes it even better with a Buick in it:TU: Those headers are they custom made as well? I had to go with custom made headers on the boat!

I made the headers here. I used a TA flange kit and order misc. mandrel bends from my exhaust supplier. I then had them ceramic coated. I still ended up with about $650.00 in them not counting labor. Scott

Got the 3.70 gears in and ran this weekend. It was pretty hot and humid ( about 3400 ft.). I made two hard passes with no throttle stop and went an 8.65 @ 155.448, re-jetted up and advanced timing 2 degrees and went an 8.63 @ 155.044. I think I need a little fine tuning on the jetting and maybe timing but feel I'm pretty close. I then started working on the throttle stop. I used a 4 to 1 ratio to start with. I started the stop at 1 second, shifted into high at 1.5 seconds and came off the stop at 2.148. I made two back to back passes, 8.888 @154.189 and 8.888 @ 152.880. I don't know why mph dropped a little on 2nd pass but so far I'm pretty happy overall. It doesn't carry the front end quite like it used to but it's pretty smooth. Went to the 4th round with my '66 special and redlighted with an -.019, but still moved into 2nd place in points. This weekend I'm going to switch to the dragster and leave the '66 home. Kinda nervous, I've won alot of rounds in that car. Scott

Great job with both cars. I love seeing someone doing something different. Also love the fact that you are out there racing every weekend. If I wasn't so old and moved away from all my friends and car builders I would give a dragster a try. My 10.31 et Super Stock engine would love to loose 2000 lbs. Would be fun. Good luck on your project.
