:blast: :blast: i am going to swap to a 455 in a 82 regal. i have an old block and a 200r4 to use for mock up. going to get poston pads. i was wondwering about the crossmember. i am going to order one from gforce( crossmembers.com ). do i bolt it up to the orignal frame holes and bolt the tranny up and adjust the motor pads only. or do i leave everthing loose and the reline it up. in other words does the crossmember stay in the same location? ..........thanx shane.. :TU: :TU:

82 frame does NOT have mount for 2004R, it is on 84-87 frame. Make sure you get the extension peice required to mount on 82 frame. I think the extension welds onto the frame to allow use of their crossmember.

i am glad you said something that would have sucked when it came time to bolt it in. i have done many swaps in chevy trucks. they are easy and you have plenty of room.;;; anyway the crossmember should bolt into place first and then go from there right? i am just trying to get as much info as i can befor i jump in it.......thanx shane......

after the frame extension is installed, it should be piece of cake. mine was using 350 engine into 231 original car.real simple. used 86 regal with olds 307 radiator and upper hose; used 231 lower hose.car originally had 2004r, just put in better 2004r and gn rear.didn't think the 7 1/2 rear would stand up to the torque of buick 350.
See item referenced by sharkmonkey. covers what you need.

i have read many sites but no one has said if the used the existing crosmember frame holes. or if they left it loose and drilled new crossmember frame holes? would the motor be too far forward or to far back or just right if the orignal crossmember stayed in the same place. {if any of you guys who have done the swap could you email me you phone i would like to talk to you abou it} ............thanx shane..........

You can use the crossmember you have if you use a TH350 tranny. The motor will be in the correct position. When I did mine, I had an '85 so my holes were already there.

I used a crossmember from G force (Crossmembers.com) when I swapped out the V6 and put a 455 into my Grand National and it bolted right in. What a quality product. It has the the humps for the exhaust on both sides and I installed 3" exhaust with a ton of room, could have gone with 3.5 pipe easy. Tell them what trans your using and it will fit!!
