Whitedrifter I hope you run more than a stock Stage 1 fuel pump (in your profile). Check out this mechanical pump. http://www.trishieldperformance.com/ And also check out the 1/2" pickup/sending unit, big filter, and another fuel pump at http://www.robbmcperformance.com/com And run a 1/2" line No need for electric pump.
Thanks for the warning. I have a Barry Grant setup with 1/2 line inlet and return to a fuel cell. The last engine was a stage 1 but I ran this system on it too. I also just tested the flow just in case while I was installing the engine after the test today.
AAAhHHHHHH, maybe, Maybe not. Actually, I might have a couple of sleepless nights getting it ready. I still have to install the 4L80E. Are you going?
Ill go to see your car run.Let me know when you plan to run.I haven't even touched my car but the reno /addition is coming along well.I'm thinking late Sept or Oct I'll have time to put the motor together. No racing til next year for me. Jamie
Those are great numbers Larry. I'm real happy things went well for you. By the looks of those numbers you will have the only 9 sec buick in Victoria:TU: Chris
I don't know about only 9 second Buick in Victoria, maybe the only one running. Besides, it's a heavy car, I don't know if it'll go any faster than 10 flats, I'll sure be happy if it goes faster. Jamie, I will know tomorrow when I'll be racing, but if everything goes well it'll be Cruising Port Alberni Friday, and racing Saturday and Sunday. I have to finish the trans swap and some electronics, like the electric speedo and other dash items.
Larry we plan on being there on Sat good luck with your car and hope to see you up there. If there is anything I can help you with Larry to get your car ready just pm me, my week is open for days or evenings. Jamie
Larry how did you make out at Alberni? Dave was having traction issues and had to two step it way down just to try and get it out of the hole. When I was helping him load up on friday I noticed his slicks were done so he had to make due with what he had. I think the best he went was low 11.30's. Chris
I had traction issues on the Saturday with 1.7 60's and a best of 11.9 in my 2 runs, but it went well Sunday. The 60's were low 1.5s to 1.6, and a 11.1 off the gas at the end of the track so I wouldn't break out (and ran right on my 11.1 dial in). that was with ET streets and through the exhaust, should be good for a mid 10s or better after some more work. The convertor stalled too low as I ordered it before I finished the engine and now know I need almost 1000 rpm more stall. Just finished re-installing it, so I'll see at the Western next week what it 60's, it did a 1.53 at the Western last time after Port Alberni. Sure is nice having a 4L80E trans though. I accidentally shifted into OD with the lockup on in the second run Saturday, and lugged it down to somewhere in the 2500 rpm range. Really lugged it! Arghh. Also noticed with a big cam the convertor really shakes when you run the engine rpm too low, need to use lockup on highway only, and with high stall (4000 at the time)TC you might as well not use OD until you can lockup the convertor as the TC just slips more without the lockup on at lower speeds. But it sure helps on the highway, and probably more so with 5000 stall. How's the move going?
I love the 4L80E and think it is cool that you are using it in a street/strip car. The move, it figures as soon as I list my house I caught the tail end of the boom and smack dab in the middle of a unstable market. I am in IL right now getting my 70GS455 4spd convert and a mother load of speed parts ready to ship to what ever coast I am going to. I might just rent the house out and go anyways. I hope to see another BBB at chucks in sept, who knows it might even pull some good #s:TU:
