One of the best pieces of advise I can give is to dry fit (on the bench) the trans into the bell housing to assure the bell housing does not need to be reamed a bit as they can be tight.
The next bit is when ready to install trans, use two pieces (about 3" long) of threaded rod into the two top holes of the bell housing to aid in sliding the trans in. The drivers side can be hard to reach to remove once the trans is in, so do not thread it in more than a few threads in :TU: Once trans is seated tight to the bell housing, replace threaded rod with the bolts1 DO NOT USE THE BOLTS TO PULL THE TRANS INTO THE BELL HOUSING.

....except bolts for rotating parts (flywheel: crank, clutch pressure plate: flywheel) use locktite

Slot the end of the threaded rod and you can use a screwdriver to back it out if need be.

And, if the tranny won't seat in the bellhousing, attach the clutch linkage and have someone press the pedal while you wiggle the tranny.

DO NOT force it in, as others have said. You WILL break an ear off the transmission....ask me how I know......:Dou:

Confirm that the ID of the pilot bushing fits over the input shaft before installing trans.

Mark , what fly wheel did you use?

For my swap, I found an OEM that I had resurfaced and noticed it had been externally balanced at one point to the engine it came off of. I took it to my machine shop and match balanced it to the SFI flex plate I had balanced my engine with when I rebuilt it so I would not have a terminal / fatal vibration....just curious what you did :TU:

well that was a stupid statement...[IMG]

the trans is in,shifter all the linkage went right in...no problem....

put the z bar in.... it fits like $hit.....tighten it up....its too far away the grease fitting hits the brake distribution block and the adjustment rod not even close...did a little bending....not much better.....

kind of wondering about the z bar frame mount....that was a repro

I'll mess with it some more tomorrow....[IMG]
