My car had the H, but just as seen here I have seen original cars that have either one, so who can say what is correct or incorrect......rememeber that the first ZL-1 Camaros came with "wrong" Holley carburetor from what Chevrolet called out for, so whatever got the cars down the line was installed.
Rememeber that the 1970 model year had running changes, like the Gauge Lens, the Tri-Shield remote mirror (which my car had), and the rear interior lights with the Tri-Shield.
Update on New Kleiner Handles I talked to Dave this week and he is progressing well on the reproduction of the correct 4-speed handles(68-72). It looks promising to have them with him at the BuickHorsepower Nationals in Indianapolis in July. Dave also confirmed he will do both styles, original push in handles and the new style with two bolt mounts.
Great news Reg.... :3gears: any idea how much these will cost.....also are the rods and arms ready yet ... uzzled: I have the correct shifter body I just need the rest......
No update on prices yet, that is still months away as well. As for the flatbar shifter levers for 70-72, Dave has had those available for a long time. The shift rods I am not sure of the current status. Keep in mind that 1969 is a different configuration for anyone wanting to be "correct".
Shifter handles Hi Mark, I have a call into Dave to get an update. I will let you know the outcome. Last I talked to Dave - he expected to be at Indy and have a prototype or a first run.
Any word whether Dave Kleiner is going to have the correct 4spd shifter knob reproduced? Got Posi? :3gears: Roger
The consolette plain black knobs have been reproed for a couple of years by Troy Thornton. 442 knobs are the same.
I have a 72 GS455 4 speed. How do I identify if the shifter and knob I have is correct for the car????? What should I look for? I know the trans is a 68-69. Thanks Tim
Nonconsolete cars had the shift pattern script on the ball and consolette cars did not since it was already on the consolette emblem. You can get one from Classic Olds 336 766- 7845 clasic442@AOL.com I think Jim is currently at the Olds Nationals in Dallas.

Ok thanks but how do I know if the shifter handle is a Buick or not and the correct year for my car? Thanks Tim
There is no GM part number on the 68-72 levers--only the Hurst number on one side of the butt. The number engraved on the butt is 5335. In order to see the number the lever must be removed from the shifter mechanism. These handles have the word Hurst on both sides. If this does not appear there is no need to pull the lever.
Can someone please explain more to me how to get the shifter handle out ?? I have tried a feeler gauge but could not seem to find the "tabs" to release the handle! Thanks Tim
It is a pawl that must be pushed away from the stick. So stick a .080 angled feeler gauge down both sides, release the pawl which is only on one side and pull the stick out. The apex of the v on the angled feeler points away from the stick.
Any word on when the correct shift bars will be ready? It looks as if I have the incorrect shifter in my '70 GS350. Mine has Hurst spelled out. Can we get the correct non-consolette shift boots? Chris
Chris - I have no updat efor Dave Kleiner. By the way - HURST spelled out is correct, it also should have a 3/8" fine thread for knob and push-in lower mount system(no bolts).
I finally got my shifter handle out! I used a .025 feeler gauge and slipped it down in the left side(drivers side) of the handle, once it stopped I hit it with a hammer a couple times to get it past the detent and out it came! By the way it has "5335" on the shifter! Tim
