    Another month another update

We gained only 3 more registrations in the past month, but 8 additional cars. So 40 registered with 36 cars. I'm not surprised registrations have slowed down as most people wait until the last minute, but for planning purposes if the earlier you can make your plans the better please. The oldest car registered so far is a 1932; the newest, a 1996.

The hotel has been filling up quickly. A few statistics:
48% of room block is full
peak night room block is 42% full
peak night, BCA has booked 1/3 of the entire hotel

So get your room booked soon, 704-455-8200 is the direct line to the host hotel.

We now have confirmation that the showfield on Saturday will be inside the 1.5 Mi Charlotte Motor Speedway in the areas surrounding the cup and Nationwide garage buildings. Maps are available on our website 2012 Buick Club of America 500 at Concord, NC National Meet.

The other big news is Mr. Earl's 5454th post on the BCA Forum inviting all 1954 Buick's to the 2012 National meet with a goal of 54-'54s at the meet Google 1954 Buick Highway's website for more information.

We also have a few limited edition 2012 polo's still available. Contact me for more info.

We have some promo vids but I can't post them yet....need 9 more posts to do that:Do No:

No matter I'll try and build the suspense on how we plan on achieving our goal first with just text posts. :TU:

The BCA Event was in Danvers MASS this year and if I remember right it was hotter then that here in MASS.

So don't worry about the heat, it will be a great event.

If the wife and I can swing it I want to go. Hopefully we can make it, the events sound like a lot of fun and you can't beat the area if your a

OK we are up to 49 cars and 57 registrants. So we picked up 8 cars this past month which is very good. Compared to the previous few meets, registrations were not at these levels until February. So hopefully this is signs of a large attendance of Buicks.

As for the Host Hotel we added 100 more rooms to the block , but despite that we are now at
81% of the Friday night room block is booked
67% of the entire hotel in total Friday night is booked to the BCA
82% of the total room block is booked.

Direct line to the host hotel Embassy Suites is 704-455-8200

Unfortunately I do need to inform everybody that zMax Dragway has canceled the Drag and Brag Series for 2012. This means we will not get to race our Buicks on the 4 wide strip. I know some will be disappointed with this news and unfortunately it is not something within our control as we were planning on using this event in lieu of renting the track, which is rather costly and presents problems with BCA's insurance provider.

TOO far SOUTH, and TOO far EAST, BCA with gas is is, needs to wake up. and locate central USA to get members to come. When you post one way or other california to S Carolina or other, the other side wont come.

Do what NSRA does and localize the show to one fair ground central usa. maybe Des Moines Iowa fair grounds use to be used by GOOD GUYS as a real nice grounds. This is central to all north south east and west , quite fooling with sponsor clubs and set up a national office run show and book a fair grounds like this and go each year. Even GS performance groups stay at same area year after year.

If the national office has not looked into this it should, loss money revenue on shifting to shows too far in one way has shown many times as loss of income, from cars to owners, and vendors. With increases in BCA dues, to increase to go to a show, not counting "tours out priced", Just going to show cost 200-300 minimum , plus hotel, staying out side HOST is most reasonable. Host has tended to be 50-75 more than local hotel rooms or motels.

Save money at board level, localize a show, make cost even each year. cut cost to participate, by doing so MORE owners and vendors will come. Thus tipping the scale on lower entry to positive profits. If asked of owners why they did not go, was usually cost, and location location location.

buisiness is one thing, playing clubs is another. If the BCA needs to keep in the GREEN, then maybe its time in our financial world to cut cost at the show level, make pledges to get members there in lower fees, And have a 500 + car show and possible 200 vendors. this is not a negative on BCA, just a look at reality, of business and finance, and losing cash at locations not making cash every 3-4 years, and clubs that hosted generally took it in the pants.

National run show in IOWA 2010 was too high in prices, from vendors double shot to swap, to too high entry for cars, and host too High on hotel. This was start to National run show, but could have been a monster of show, not to say alot of nice cars came. Over view of vendors many said they would not do it again at the double hit fee, of entry then swap. single swap fee would have been enough.

Errors and trials I know, but business needs to cut , to get car owners in our economy to come out, Largest show in USA, MSRA St Paul, mn, 12,000 cars in 2011 lost money, due to gates, and lost vendors. This was economy. not change in fees. Yet they raised dues this year and are being ripped by members not liking money increase to cover losses due to economy not cars, or show itself. Poor or great planning starts at the top, but remember the small man is at the bottom. If you squish him you cut off your own head.

I would guess they move it around so that there arent the same cars year after year. If you have it in the same location every year you would never see anything from the corners of the country.
It gives the guys that live out of central usa a chance to show up. Im from the nw and the only national Ive attented was in Seattle and was a huge sucess and was happy that Portland will have one in a couple years so I will attend another.

I dont feel the entry prices are to high but if I ever feel that way Ill just go be a spectator and admire all the cars for free.
I may be wrong but I thought the bca was a not for profit not a for profit business. I think there doing a good job by spreading the shows around to all there members not just those in the mid west.

    Mr Geske,
Your opinion has been heard several times by the BCA BOD both in person and via the BCA forum. With all due respect the Carolina Chapter of the BCA is doing the best job it can within the constraints to have most Buick enthusiast possible come to the event. Will we make a small profit yes. What will that profit be used for: rewarding the volunteer members of our chapter and other chapters for giving up their time so that our Buick friends from around the WORLD can come to our back yard and enjoy our city's and state's attractions.

    UPDATE:
The host hotel for the 2012 BCA National is SOLD OUT. Unless someone cancels there are no more rooms available in this hotel.

The overflow hotel is directly adjacent to the host hotel, approximately 600 ft from the front door to the BCA Registration area in the host hotel. See the attached aerial photo with notes.

    The overflow hotel information is
    Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte/Concord
    7611 Scott Padgett Pkwy
    Concord, NC 28027
    (704) 453-2600
    www.marriott.com/Concord

    ROOM RATES - $129 for Monday-Thurs &, Sun, & $99 for Fri-Sat.
No breakfast or cocktails included like Embassy.
    Free Wireless Internet included

It is recommended you contact the hotel directly via the number above and not via their 800 reservation line or website. Their 800 reservation line does not have the details on the $99 Friday-Saturday rate.

Also attached is a list of all the other hotels on the same exit as the host hotel, but we do not have room blocks at any of these.

Also we already have 62 cars from 77 registrants. At this point the cars range from 1929 McLaughlin to a 2008 Enclave. I do know some folks with cars older than 1929 are scheduled to attend but haven’t registered as of yet. Compared to the previous few BCA National meets, we are well ahead in registrations and car counts at the same time. So hopefully this plus the selling out of the hotel are signs of a large attendance of Buicks!!

I have good news for the "Go Fast with Class" crowd. zMax Dragway has reinstated the "Drag and Brag Series" for 2012. Bad news, sorta, is that they moved it from Wednesday to Friday night, so it conflicts with the Buick Heritage Alliance Oehler Barn BBQ. So for those that don't remember this is an open to public chance to take your street car down the 4 lanes wide "Bellagio of drag strips", zMax Dragway from 5PM to 9PM Friday night. This not an BCA event but just something that is happening a 1/4mi from the host hotel that those attending can participate in if they so choose.

    Also we now have
    91 cars on 119 Registrations.
    BCA 400 Point: 49
    Display Only: 19
    Archival: 9
    Modified: 5
    Drivers: 9
Senior: 16 (count incl in 400 pt total)

For comparison sake this is quite a few more cars and total registrations than the previous few National meets have had at the same point (either by date or weeks to go). We are certainly taking this as a sign that we have a good chance of getting to our 500 car / the biggest show since Flint in 2008 goal.

If anyone has an questions or anything please let us know we are glad to help and look forward to hosting y'all.
