just drove a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybird ...

the dealer did one of those
take it home for a day thingies

very surprised with the car.....its better than mid-size 4dr
that gets over 40 mpg IN THE CITY ...the self generating
eslectric runs the car very nicely up 47 mph then the motor kicks
in .....great city car and highway cruiser

700 mile range in CITY on 17 gallons of gas ...

it beats the Camry ,Accord and Altima in all aspects even price

I would have to say I am impressed with Ford and its about fricken time

buying for the wife Monday ...the bmw got totalled ,some young
kid on cellphone crashed into it :Dou:

the video is no bs and imo I think they are under estimating the Fusion

The Fusion is an incredible car. We bought the SEL with the sport performance package and love it. Actually the only thing it doesn't have is AWD. Only gets about 23-24, but for something this fast and smooth, that's not all bad. Probably would get 3 or 4 more MPG with just my wife driving, and probably that again with more highway driving. Hybrid next to it was a 2010, and would have cost $10k more (ours was $22k out the door including extended warranty, tax, plates, everything.)

It's hard for me to stay out of it with the 263hp (rated, neighbor ran the dynos that tuned this package and said it's more like 285 actual), a neat sound (not unlike the original Yamaha engine SHO's of the early 90's. The GM 6 speed automatic is also awesome, since ours is a 2009, it didn't have the paddle shift feature. Has that radar system for backing up (not just behind, but approaching from either side, too..

Never thought Ford could do a car like this (actually Volvo did the majority of the development on the vehicle itself.) Ford doesn't do much of the development on any of the cars except Mustang, and that's done jointly at Roush.

Dearborn finally got the message and lets Mazda and Volvo do the cars rather than trying to show them how to do it....about time...

Great car, can't fund anything wrong with it, now has 9k miles on it...

Crappy pics, sorry about that....it never sits still long enough to take some good shots. Love the wheel/tires....

so seems your happy with it ....

if I was buying myself I would pick the awd or sport model
but since its for wife and all her driving is inner city I think its
    perfect ...

Dont buy a hybrid, you will save yourself a bunch of headaches down the road that they dont tell you about till after youve bought the car.

If youre buying the hybrid to save the world, dont, its not working. If youre buying the hybrid to save gas cuz ALL you do is city driving, it might work, but a small diesel engine is probably more efficient. If youre buying the hybrid to save gas in general, it doesnt work.

If youre buying the hybrid for none of the above reasons, i guess i just havent heard of that reason yet.

All that being said, the fusion is a very very nice car, and defiinately underestimated. I would go with the regular model though rather than the hybrid.

I travel for work every week therefore rent a lot of cars. I have probably driven every new model out for the last several years and nothing has impressed me more than the 2010 Fusion. I rent so much that I always get upgraded to a full size, premium, or SUV however since driving well over 20 2010 Fusions over the last few months I now request one at the counter. Most have been 4cyl and get great mileage, are very comfortable with plenty of room inside for customers and luggage, it also handles well and is pretty responsive for a 4banger, love the 6 speed. I have not personally tested the MPG however I routinely rent in Baltimore run around DC, drive up to Philly, NYC and back to BWI in a week usually within one tank.

Ford got this one right IMO and I would not hesitate to purchase one.

i agree with azeem. the fusion is a great buy, but keep the 10 grand in your pocket and stay away from the hybrid.

well after talking on the phone with some dealers and other research
there is no incentive from ford on the Hybird ...no 0% financing ,no rebate
no nothing and they are firm on price pretty much ...just a small tax credit

the non-hybirds do offer incentives ...maybe the sport or awd model :Do No:

    Sport or AWD eh???

If you guys have snowy winters your wife may like the AWD more..... Although if your wife is a gear head she may enjoy the sport model more too :Do No:

Test em out and see how each one does....

Good call on the hybrid. Actually that was the other reason i forgot, was tax breaks (you get lots in California i think). But some of the headaches include replacing the battery after about 5 years. They dont tell you that no one (except honda, and possibly toyota) have a recycling program for them...... Also if you research the amount of resources USED to create a hybrid, you will see it already has a much bigger carbon footprint than alot of people realize. Yada yada.... i dont wanna start an argument, but theres alot of little hidden things like that.

We have a 4WD V6Escape, and my 4x4 F250 Diesel..so really didn't need the AWD. I may have to take this Fusion to T & T just to see what it'll run...My guess? mid 14's.....

Although my Ford Fusion Sel is an 07, I have to say it's a great car. Always starts, good quality ride, handles nice, and with all wheel drive it gets around in the snow with no issues. With a six speed automatic it only turns around 1800 rpm at about 70 mph. Comes out to pretty good gas mileage. Ford seems to be doing pretty good. Not to mention they didn't need any bailout money as well. John Biggs.

We have an 09 SE with the 4 cylinder. Averages 28-29mpg combined driving. We did a 2000 mile round trip this past summer and used four tanks of gas. Love the Sirius radio because I spend a lot of time in the Fusion commuting to work (75 miles round trip). That 28-29 mpg sure beats out my old 4.0 Jeep Cherokee Sport with its 17-18 mpg. We'll see how I adjust to FWD instead of 4wd this winter.

Because of its high crash test rating, my full coverage insurance is cheaper on the new Fusion than the limited coverage on a 9 year old Jeep. Saved me $600 per year over the Jeep!

Since reading this thread, I'm now giving some thought of replacing my 07 Jeep Compass with a 2010 AWD Ford Fusion Sport. Dave H, do you know if any performance parts are available thru Ford or aftermarket sources for the 3.5L?

    End Result :

broke down and the wife has a new Fusion Hybrid
grey with black leather and all the toys ....

drove it last night ...did 15 minutes city and 15 minutes highway
got a combined mpg of 39 .....:Brow:

next test is to see if I can get the advertised 700 miles in the city
with one tankful of 17.5 gallons ....if so its will be the wifes car for 15
    years

Don't know of any aftermarket or add-on performance enhancements, but since it's been out there for a few years now, probably something there, or soon will be....

  17. rex362

no add-on for this one ....the way the gauges and play lights are set up
on these hybrids it forces you to drive easy for mpg ...almost like your stuck
on some video game trying to do better all the time ....

yesterday I would never of said this .....but it makes you want to go greener
and greener in the wallet ....ehehhehheeh

just called my state farm guy and put the fusion on record
and it costs me almost $200 less annually to cover than previous car

very happy with car .....I will report back when this hybrid hits 10,000 miles:Smarty:

I think Ford done good with these hybrids and even the regular Fusions

Make sure you verify your numbers using:

MPG = (No. of Miles) (No. US Gallons)

and not just the little gauge read out you see on the dash.

Congrats on the new car. :beers2:

The only issue I have with the hybrid version is that the batteries take up some trunk space and the back seat can't fold down.

Other than that, I was also very impressed -- sweet little ride.
