Here are two beautiful chunks of 6061 aluminum. These billets should be machined in the next month or so. These will be the basis for the new 455+ cast iron block, and a prototype for the standard aluminum block. KBR will be testing the machining program before finalizing a cast iron block run. These blocks will be with and without water jackets.
What info do you want? 4.5 bore, 4.4 and maybe 4.5 stroke, 3" and 3.25" mains, stock cam ,54mm, 55mm cam. Billet aluminum. Price? TBD. we will know in November. Weight, A lot less than our 300# WC iron block.
The specifics of the aluminum block. Water jacketed? Max stroke, raised cam, deck height maximum / minimum, 4 bolt splayed, cross? Bore spacing? Etc
Standard Deck,With or without water, 4.5" max stroke, Standard cam location, ( all 3 cam sizes), No splayed mains, center 3 are 4 bolt, 4.75 bore spacing. This is meant to race and replace stock block using stock oil pan, and parts, hp from 1500 to 2000 max. Our race only billet will have splayed bolts, all 4 bolt mains and cu. in. out of this world!!! Don't ask, but they are already in the works.
I am doing this for the Buick community who for decades have wanted to compete head to head with the 3 big ones and those who don’t want to spend a fortune for a street or mild strip car. I think we will be able to accommodate all those sometime next year and some by the end of this year. We have a business model to keep prices affordable and parts rapidly available. Hope us all health and strength, we need it!
Anson I think there is a line, you have to follow the rules of the board. Express interest in the Kissing KBR thread, and follow that up with a PM to set up the details! LOL Sorry Anson, I couldn't resist. But I do think there are a lot of people who could kiss KBR for what's coming for us!
Kenny, How did the prototype aluminum block turn out? any word on when the cast iron blocks will be available?
Hey Ken, As a machine shop owner, non-automotive, I'm wondering what type equipment you are running these on? Also are there CAD models of Buick engines available, or do you have to 3D scan it all in yourself?
5 years and not a peep, guessing if they got made they got done for some 1 off stuff........its been every bit as long or longer we have been waiting for the cast iron block that we still don't have much real time update. I like alot of ppl was really excited about that better more affordable option to get a stronger block on s budget........but now I've just moved on entirely.
That block would not be on a budget because the demand. Our hope now is Jason line iron block that he is trying to get passed for nhra. If that passes that might be more affordable and a stock replacement block. But who knows.. John jr
That was probably the Hemi block he is working on. Even though Jason is a Buick guy thru and thru, he is also a businessman and realizes that he has to do the high volume stuff first.. and having just built a Bulldog Block (which is what Jason bought the patterns for) I can attest that there is a whole lot of work that needs to be done to that pattern to produce a quality product.
