Marvin.. this is what I was reffering to..

From Rick Martinez, posted on this board. He has a STG 1 TE headed motor, that we did the heads on here at TSP.

These headers are for serious race motors, with fully ported aluminum heads.

Note that this gain was with Rob's custom headers, but I have built custom headers of a number of different designs, equal and un-equal length, and found that simply primary and collector size is by far the main difference in headers. So I would surmise that TA's new header would produce similar results as you see below.. on a 750 HP motor..

No one needs these on a 550 HP iron head motor...

Mike did these for those folks building high HP motors with the STG 1 Ex flange, as we have had 2 1/8 STG 2 headers for some time now. But nothing for the new STG 1 market, which was created with the introduction and R&D work done with the TA Performance STG 1 SE and TE head.

Dyno session went great! We first broke in the engine, dumped the oil and let it cool and inspected the filter. With a fresh filter and oil we did about 3 pulls using my old 2" Hooker headers and without the vac pump working, Then 4 more pulls with the pump and 2" headers. Also have to note it was raining outside with 100% humidity in the high 80's. After a few timing changes and jet changes...

Best was 751.2 hp at 6800 rpm and 639.2 torque at 5800 rpm

GOAL ACHIEVED!.....we then installed custom 2 1/8" headers made by Rob Chilenski of Stage One Auto and did 3 more pulls.

Best was 779.8 hp at 7000 rpm and 654.3 torque at 5500 rpm. Rob's headers added about 30 hp! THanks Rob I'll take'em

vac stayed about 9-10 inches, oil pressure was like a ROCK at 85 pounds.

When we dynoed my engine Rob Chilenski along with Doug Hecker and the machinist were present with me. After we broke in the engine the best we got on HP was 751 with the Hooker headers with 2" primary tubes and 3 1/2" collectors. We did absolutely nothing to the engine but to bolt on Rob's headers which had 2 1/8" primary tubes and 3 1/2" collectors. We fired up the engine and that next pull was 779.8 hp! It picked up damn nearly 30 hp flat with just the header change. All other pulls there after were in the 777 -779 range. We were all totally shocked from the power increase, it was real, bonified! Currently on my car are the same style headers except I had 4" collectors installed. Apparently the Stage 1 head design lacks in breathing on the exhaust side unlike the big brother Stage 2 heads. So we can only figure the larger header tubes did just that, allowing the heads to flow better threw the exhaust. Another footnote was that the weather sucked big time. The engine room was not climate controlled and it was muggy and raining outside during the dyno session, we ended up doing 15 pulls on the engine. No doubt if the weather was better we may have picked up another few ponies.

edit: Sorry JW I'm a little slow tonight, long day....

And, of course, he's wrong AGAIN!! The first collectors were 3 1/2 inch, not 3 inch. Rick, Rick, Rick. :Dou:

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear, a 30 HP gain on a motor that is producing serious HP. Congratulations Guys.
I have 4" collectors with a few tricks inside and I do run threw the mufflers (GSE class rules). I was running the 2" Hookers and I noticed a gain the first time at the track with the 2-1/8". Has the car been to the track with the new motor? Is the 9.25 with the new motor? How much weight?

Yes, the 9.25 time is with the new engine and race ready weight with me in it is 3,070, we weighed the car at Quaker City this past August.

    Hi Guys,

Jim.....Sherri called me yesterday to alert me to the fact these are now available and in stock but told me they were $665!?!? Is the $595 your cost or was I possibly mis-quoted?:Do No:

    Thanks...:)

Either way that is not a bad price. Custom headers run around $1200-1300 bucks and you figure another 2 bills for Jet Hot. With TA's prices you are looking somewhere under a grand with shipping and Jet Hot, yeah it's a lot, but cheaper than 1500. Plus no down time sending your car out to get fitted. When I wanted to go to the 2 1/8th I checked all vendors and the answers were, "not yet available". You guys are lucky on the fact that they are now available and cheaper than customs ones. And you have to figure it's a performance part for that serious racer and we all know, no matter where you look for parts if you look to go real fast the cost increases. Sucks, but the nature of the beast. I guess it's either go slow and spend less or go fast and spend more.

Or as Doug Hecker always tells me, "It's only money". Spoken like a true single guy :Brow:

Just wait until that new block is ready for sale. The same theory applies, go fast pay more. It will be high time for the big boys to leave their dogs and get off the porch. Well, I've been saving and can't wait and my dog is long gone...:Brow:
