Have this electrical burning smell coming from the A/C vents in my Century, any ideas? Blower works but I turned it off and the smell seems less. Nothing has been touched and as is OEM prior to issue.

Is the blower motor accessible or in plain sight under the hood?

Didn't check yet as it is dark but I did not smell anything under the hood. Do not know here the resistor or blower is located at the moment.

Resistor is mounted next to the blower motor itself, should be above the passenger side panel below the glove box area. Chances are either the resistor is starting to burn out in which you will lose the lower speeds and or the wire harness is starting to melt from the electric load/heat. These resistors have been a common issue for GM for many yrs and are even noted for burning some vehicles such as the Silverado's.

Re: 1996 Centurty giving off burning smell, blower motor resistor?

I dropped the cover skin under my dash on the passenger side and don't see a thing. I believe mine is bad as there is a strong burning smell when the blower is running although everything seems to work well at the moment. No smell when the blower is off. Is the unit mounted to the blower casing

Yes, it is. Should be within 12-16" of the blower motor, i believe 7 wires. The harness has steady power and ground. The control head controls blower speed through the resistor. You will either find the resistor is melted or the hot wire to the resistor is melted.
