Im sure this question has been asked many times, but I cant seem to find the threads. I have a 1984 Regal that I would like install a 350 in. I am thinking about also installing a T5 5 speed from like the 3rd gen camaro. Has anyone here ever attempted or been successful at this swap? I was wondering what mounts to use and are there any obstacles as far as exhaust goes?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Billy

Hi Billy, and welcome to the board! :beer If you are going to install a buick 350 in that regal, and if you can, you might want to install some urethane mounts or at least some mounts that came out of the car the 350 did, as the V6 ones will not hold the torque as well as the 350 ones will. If it is a chevy 350, you will find that you will have to change a lot of things. The exhaust, you will have to change the manifolds as the V6 ones will not work. I have asked a few swap questions and this is what I have as far as my research goes. Good luck on the swap! :beer

350 mounts won't work. Gotta use the V6 ones. Want stronger ones? Specify for Turbo car.

350 mounts will not work? Why is this? Im not the most car literate person, but I thought they would :Do No:

350 mounts stick out a little further and up a little higher than the V6 mounts. You'll blow your stack trying to cram that 350 in there on 350 mounts. I know....I've been there. I think I said some words that night like *%$#!@#$%^%$#$%^%#**!!!!!!!!

Very, very cool... but where in the world are you going to find a bellhousing or adapter plate for a Buick motor? :Do No: Are there any out there for a T5? That'd be a neat swap for sure!

would the bell housing off a 231 v6 fit the 350? they used that in some of the late model f-bodies.

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I guess I should have put a little more thought into the question before posting. I really wasnt thinking about the Buick 350. The 350 I am planning to use is out of my old (totalled) 1989 GMC PU. I bought it from a kid from Illinois and totalled it while towing it. I never even got it complete to drive, so im gonna do something with what I have left. The trans was trash (700R4), but I could have it rebuilt. Im not sure what I want to do there yet. I have 3 of these cars... 84-86 models. I bought a T5 on ebay a few years ago to replace the one that I fragged in my 1992 Camaro. All I have seen lately are the 10 spline trannys. I would prefer to use the 26 spline unit.
I did a little measuring on my car and on a frame we have lying around. I know there is a significant difference in the engine mount width. Thats the basic reason I posted here. My plan is to use a completely custom exhaust, so thats not really an issue. If the 3.8 V6 mounts will bolt to the 350 and put it in the car where it needs to be then to beef em up I can just make some new stronger ones with the dimensions from the OE ones.
Thanks again for the suggestions. I appreciate it and any more that anyone can think of.

The easiest way to change over would to get the engine mount pads and engine wiring harness out of an 78 to 87 Monte Carlo with a SBC engine. The harness plugs into the back of the fuse block under the brake booster and seperates into the engine harness and the chassis harness.

The pads bolt onto the frame and is what the motor mount bolts onto.

Getting the clutch and brake assembly to fit in a G body is something I do not know about, but has been done so something out there must fit.

Really hate to see a SBC going into a Regal, but that would not be the first time.

    What about front springs?
Would you have to replace the front springs if you put in a 350 or 455?
