ok guys im having lots of trouble finding body parts to fit my 80, can anyone help, im looking for a 2.5'' cowl hood or the 78 turbo style hood, i need a little more clearance. i also need a header panel but i can only find one to fit the 81 and up just like the hoods

How much clearance do you need? While the length and width of the bulge on the '78-'79 turbo hoods is considerably larger than the '82-up hoods, there still isn't very much height to it. I'd say an inch or so at best. And IIRC, the underside of the hood is only open to the bulge on the left side, although that could probably be easily fixed. I'd have to go out and check the hood I have to be sure.

And sorry, it's not for sale. :pp

well maybe someone has my setup already in a car. i am going to be running a sbc with an edelbrock performer rpm intake topped with a speed demon 650, then a standard 3'' air cleaner. im just looking for a backup plan incase it doesnt fit under the stock hood. itd be cool to keep her looking stock, cuase now people see the 1980 and think oh its a grocery getter, till it starts.but a cowl would be cool, and the 78 turbo hood is sweet.

the only place i can find the 78 turbo hood is ebay for $300
    then i found this for $489 http://www.e-bodyparts.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=Body-Parts&Product_Code=FRGH-2
    then this for $450 http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/site.htm

you can buy a 2" cowl hood from US bodysource but no one makes anything bigger than that, the only hoods that will fit is 78-80 if you look around you should be able to find a turbo hood for it price should be less than $100. any more than that is too much

ok well if you get another let me know, anyways i found a company vfn fiberglass and they make a 4'' cowl, too big for my taste and i found a few that make 2.5'' cowls, id rather keep it looking somewhat stock no its my hood or turbo hood. now i just need a header panel and a passenger fender and a radiator support, but the rad support is same off of 4door station wagon so im good there

VFN will make a 2" cowl hood from their stock bolt on glass hood, but it is very costly, somewhere between 650 and 700 plus shipping. I have an extra header for the 80 but it has damage under the right head lights. I will take pics and send them if you are interested.

Like I said, the passenger side has damage, and the drivers side attachment post on the back side is missing. Here's the pics. Let me know. The price of the item is free, however, I need to charge for the shipping at whatever it costs. Not sure if UPS will accept something that size, but they may.

I got a '78-80 Turbo hood, but, I would guess shipping would eat it up...
