Selling the above bell housing in very good shape for $100 + shipping. No extra parts, just as it is pictured.
That looks to be an earlier application, with the dual bolt pattern; GM and Ford transmissions. What is the casting #?
The Chevy version of the 78-81 A body bell housing had a provision for a "dropped" fork as I recall, with the casting number ending in perhaps "636"
I’m assuming that’s a typo & you meant 10000809. These are pretty hard to find, and if I didn’t already have one I’d snatch this up in a heartbeat. If you don’t have any luck selling here, I’d highly suggest listing it on gbodyforum.com, because I think it’d definitely sell there (especially at that price, which is very reasonable). GLWS!
I just did a little more digging, and in true GM fashion they did in fact use both 10000808 AND 10000809 for this bellhousing (as well as 563441). As far as price goes, it is somewhat of a niche piece, so the idea that "it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it" sort of applies. But I think $100-150 would certainly be fair for both buyer & seller.
Any determination on what the "dual" bolt patterns were for, on the rear face? Am guessing only cast iron three and four speed Saginaws were used for the original applications. Was there another trans used, perhaps in tiny numbers? Maybe that five speed that was used behind 260 Olds??
Yes, this would’ve been used with the T50 5 speed (which I believe was only available with the 260 Olds) in addition to the 3 & 4 speed Saginaws.
