That's a nice looking wagon at a reasonable price. I would have to lose the white roof though.

Well, they don't get any bigger than this. Nice car. price isn't bad, the white roof is a bit disconcerting, but if you're into 70s Malaise Era boats, this would be your ticket.

Hurry up before some derby guy buys it. They will pay that much to smash in a big derby.

Nope! I like wagons too (& didn't mind the white roof on this one) but prefer '68-9 SW 400's. Have had a couple but a truck is just more practical anymore.

That’s rare if factory? The vinyl roof not on all wagons this one is one with factory vinyl roof.

One just popped up in NJ for $2,000. Just as nice as this red one . It was brown with saddle interior. 52k miles on it. Every derby guy was all over it and it sold in less than 24 hrs. I imagine it is being parted right now to be built to smash up. I tried like hell to buy it. I was actually first to contact but a derby guy I know offered the seller 10k cash .

I found this '71 in a huge collection but it's hard to get a solid price from the woman.

That’s insane. Some desperate measures to destroy a car. Jeez.

Those derby guys with deep pockets will pay strong money for a low mile big car just to smash up. It's called showing off in the derby world. I know some of them that buy nice 70's GM big convertibles just to use the boxed frame in a derby hardtop and practically trash the convertible body . Some of them will put the convertible on the C channel frame of a hardtop and resell. they don't tell prospective buyers that their car is weaker now .

and I guess it's wrong to kill derby guys...or wish them ill
Man, hate stories like this! There are really so few convertibles even left (ever check out the production numbers? you get why they stopped making them) between shipping them overseas, and derbys, (I prefer overseas!) it's amazing ANY 70s cars are left...

    Fully agree!
One question though. Do you actually make money in such a derby? If you win?
If not it is even more irritating that s.o. shells out 10 grand just to destroy them…. Not smart in my world.
