great thread and loving all these videos . it does seem weird about some of the options . however I bought a new GMC truck last year and choses not to have a bunch of stuff I didn't want or need . dealer pushed the electric seats but told him id be the only one driving it and once adjusted for myself that would be it . plus it takes no effort to pull on a lever and pull . im not normally in to a lot of
fancy gadgets but im liking them on my 72 . couldn't make myself pay thousands for trim , remote keyless and onstar for my new truck though , simply would never use it .

The light monitors on the top of the fenders up front like your car has. Even in 72 I believe they used a fiber optic cable that if you look you can see them running to the headlight sockets and they pic up the glow of the headlights and turn signals so you know your lights are working..
Should be the same setup that you see in the rear view mirror thats mounted up top inside of rear glass.

ahhhh no I get it . yea pretty neat to have , however the one on the passenger side is a neck stretch to see as the hood is so wide .
im scratching my head to understand what the rear view mirror thing is your talking about ?????

If I got that option, I would want to buy a car that had it from the factory. Not much into drilling holes in my car nor relying on used over 40 year old fiber optics

Magic, HaHa! Yeah you might have to power the seat up way way up to see that passenger one:)
Some with that option also have 2 monitors that are located in the middle up the upper molding or the rear window inside, that you can see through your rear view mirror. This way you can see if the brake lights, rear turns signals and the lights themselves are working..I'm wondering if yours came with the back option?

He is referring to the red optics inside the car right above the rear glass. It monitors the rear bulbs and is viewed from rearview mirror or by turning head to look in back seat

don't blame you . nice to have but not essential . I like the speed buzzer option that sounds when you go ever a particular speed . don't have it but would have chosen it

I like most all options on these cars minus the fuel economy gauge on the speedometer and the UGLY bumper guard option

If you have the front light monitors then you have the rear as well.

Just walk into your local Buick dealer and they probably have them in stocko_Oo_O
How would you even start to drill,!!,I might talk it but I don't think I could do it either unless.......it was from the begginning of the restore.

They were not separate options, however, if you have them on the front fenders and don't see them in the interior then maybe the fiber optic is broken and they are not working

Could be they are broken from age, but Magic, you should still see the 2 little holes or lenses in a little bracket the same color as the molding..
Stange, my 82 Regal actually came with them, which was kinda rare for a Regal but on the same year's of Cutlasses of seen them alot more.

72 was the first year for the option on the big Buicks(71's possibly as a late year dealer add on). When mounted correctly, the monitor on the right front fender should be slightly turned toward the drivers, many are incorrectly installed (obviously didn't use the template properly when mounting)
