I frequent www.rivperformance.com because it is really the best site out there for my 98 Riviera. One of the guys there just picked up a 1972 Riviera. It looks to me like 1970 Azure Blue, but that color wasn't available that year. The cowl tag wasn't very revealing in this case. The paint code reads 661. Here it is. http://i41.servimg.com/u/f41/11/01/64/65/_72_ri12.jpg And here is a picture of the car. http://i41.servimg.com/u/f41/11/01/64/65/04610.jpg Anyone got any ideas about what this color is?
Tough one! From some reading it looks like SCO 661 is a non-Buick color. More pics and info here: http://boattail-riviera-by-buick.co...ion=vinsearch&doSearch=Sort/Search&q=&page=14 http://forums.aaca.org/f177/72gs-looking-help-decoding-paint-code-322005.html Devon
Back in the day, if you paidd a little more, you could order any color in the GM palette. Try that today. They'd tell you to hit the bricks. I think, if it was a GM color, there was a code stamped. if it was something special, like my friend's special order British Racing Green 68 GS, the paint code area was left blank.
The best thing to do is to bring it to a auto body supply and have them take a shot of it with a spectrophotometer. It can match the color against all the codes that are out there.
