I think John Kemper (RIP) had one - '72 Stage 1 Suncoupe that he got from a guy in Virginia. I have lots of info on the car somewhere around here. I think his is white.

Got a pic of the trim tag. Guess the sunburst car in my previous pics started its life seamist green. Resized_20181007_152513.jpg

My profile picture shows the one that I own. Bought it in 1984. The VIN is how you can decode if it is skylark or GS. Mine is a true GS 455, documented by the GSCA.

Right, John Kemper had two. A true GS and a tribute. I bought his tribute about a year before he passed.

Thanks for the information. I hadn't heard that nor the fact that it was SCO only on a GS. Did they make a 4 speed GS Stage 1 SunCoupe? I had a friend in the early eighties that had a '72 GS350 Suncoupe in a brown color. I recall the green Stage 1 one at the nats in the 90's. What happened to the white one John Kemper owned that was a factory car? How's this for a little project car?

From Sloan Data it appears there were 6 Stage 1 GS's built. I also own 1 of the six.
I have seen 455 GS Suncoupes and also a 350 GS Suncoupe.
The Suncoupe option was available by checking a box on the Skylark 350 order form.
To get the sunroof added to a Skylark, GS, or Custom the dealer would have had to use the SCO process.
There were 109 SCO's issued to Skylark bodied cars in 1972. That does NOT mean they were all suncoupes. For options not listed on an order form the dealer could try to push thru using the SCO process. Maybe a hood tach on a Skylark or spoiler on a Custom.

I remember at the GS Nationals in 1998 or so, there was a legit 1972 GS 350 4 speed Suncoupe.
Sunburst yellow with black top and interior.
    Very unique special car.

It was there at the 2004 GS Nationals, it was my brother in law's car. I have pictures that I can access in a couple of weeks and I will post a couple.

Wasn't John Kemper's original GS Suncoupe triple white before he restored it a different color?

I believe I also have a copy of an original window sticker for a yellow GS350 Suncoupe somewhere

Bobb Makely has one with a Procharged TA block 455. It has Bulldog heads. I put the Fitech FI on it for him. He bought that from Mike (can't remember last name right now). Do not know if it was a GS version (doubt it.) Bobb's first Suncoupe was destroyed in a fire. The one he has now just got the motor freshened and will get an F series Procharger on it. Plans on it being 1000+ hp street car.

Just figured it out, it was Mike Evens car that Bobb bought.

No, it is not a true GS but had most everything a GS had gotten on it.

Not sure if his car that burned up was a true GS but is it's twin.
