I bought this '72 GS Stage 1 from the original owner in Maryland back in about 1990 as a survivor, painted & detailed it, redid the interior and then sold it in about 1992. If anyone knows where it is now, I'd like to talk with the current owner and see if it might be available. Buyer 1n 1991 (At my house and with his Mom when he got it home)
That's a really great '72 Ray. It's not listed on the Stage 1 Registry but hopefully it's still out there, tucked away and waiting patiently to be rediscovered. You might get a lead if you also post these photos on the Lost Muscle Cars Facebook group. I know there have been some folks that have found there former cars using that group. I wish you luck finding the car.
Was it this car that sold last year? https://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/1972-gs-stage-1-in-socal.369315/#post-3203389
It was a survivor that I flew to Maryland and bought it from the original owner with under 100,000 miles on it. Drove it all the way back to Orlando. Totally numbers matching car with full documentation including the dealer invoice showing that the hood tach had been ordered, left off the car when it was built and installed by the dealer before delivering it to the original owner. Got it home on a Wednesday afternoon, drove it out to our local dragstrip (Speedworld Orlando) and it ran 14 flat at 100 MPH three times in a row. I think I'd rather have that car back instead of my QQ GSX. I've recently come up with some extra cash so am looking for another GS or two as I now have some additional storage space to keep them.
Looks almost identical but, has missing trim on the body side and added belt molding under the windows which the one I had didn't have. Otherwise almost a twin. After over 30 years, who knows.
Ray, your old car was definitely talked about on here recently. There was a thread on a very low mi. '72 GS convertible that was on BAT & it may have been in that thread as both cars were bought at Brooks Buick (as was my old GSX).
The original owner lived less then a mile from me on North Hazelwood Ave (?) near Overlea Md He stopped in one day when I had my GSX out in the drive , He said he wanted a conv with bucket seat but the dealer would not do a special order car , so he ordered the hardtop . It was a "Beautiful " car back in the mid 80's Good luck with your search ! Bill
Yes, it was also beautiful after I did a partial resto on it back in 1991. Looks like the years haven't been kind to it though.
Only takes a minute to say somebody put a sbc in it years ago and its heading for the derby. Seriously, thats a cool convo
World doesn’t get any smaller than this conversation. Hopefully you guys can work out a deal to reunite Ray with his old stage one.
