Need an original (& working) internal mirror assembly portion w/attached mirror or the whole sport mirror assembly (pedestal, base & mirror assembly), but the mirror must be able to move in all four directions (by hand, of course) and not be jammed. Just ordered a nice repro from Summit hoping the internals would fit my original, but they don't. So I'm gonna try my hardest to paint this thing FER 75 with clear, but I fell off the paint truck yesterday. OR Does anyone know a professional painter who will accept small jobs like this through the mail? My local painters roll their eyes at me when I ask if they wet sand between coats (or if they even use new tack cloths). They are used to dealer/insurance repair shop economics...
I can probably help you with the mirror mechanicals. Are you looking for a specific date coded mirror? Is you current mirror assembly complete? I have a few passenger side assemblies that I would be willing to trade you! PM me if you’d like. Post pictures of your current. Thanks, Steve
My passenger mirror will not adjust (the glass will not move in any direction). The ball/socket in the glass/mirror housing is frozen (and I have tried EVERYTHING, it will not unstick). I am a big guy and NEED my mirrors as I just can't swivel a 180 like normal folks and look behind me. Passenger upper housing # is: 29843 Passenger lower housing # is: 845 (maybe) Passenger glass/mirror housing # is: 29844 (The part I need) (Mirror had no date code) Hope that helps... Pics: UPPER HOUSING LOWER HOUSING GLASS/MIRROR HOUSING EXPLODED GLASS GLASS DATE CODE (Driver side):
Here ya go! This is from a ‘73 Firebird/Camaro sport mirror so it has a little extra material on the back of the mount which does not effect how it mounts into an earlier housing. Here it is mounted into. ‘70 29843 housing. I replaced the glass on this one a while ago and the movement is super smooth and tight. Then here it is compared to an earlier mirror assembly: later one is in the back. Here are the part numbers that match yours:
The deal is done. I just cant help but to thank Smitty455 enough! The part fits perfectly and I can see again, Thank you!
