MY gas cap doesn't tighten. When at the track, I have to duct tape it to keep gas from spraying out of the filler neck. I'm sure it's the tang, but I need to see how it is supposed to be before i try to bend it. can anyone take a quick pic with the gas cap off? Thanks in advance!

Do you have an original tank or replacement tank?

Replacement tanks have a filler neck that is too short, and does not extend far enough into the tank. This results in fuel slosh when accelerating. I have seen numerous cars with this issue.

I believe it is a replacement. I bought a new gas cap and its the same as the old cap. doesn't tighten.

This is 71 replacement tank, original non-vented cap. Only problem I have is can't use full speed when filling. It'll spit back at you...:D

Thanks! I see the issue is my tang is in the way. Just wanted to be sure before I pushed it in B8D4AE5F-91A0-489B-99C6-2629B8D62946.jpeg
