Considering frame off while I do an engine swap this fall. I rebuilt the entire suspension early Covid times. Original control arms all powder coated and bushings replaced. The original rubber was in very sad condition. I’m sure the body bushings are equally as sad. But, the car handles like a dream now. Especially with the QA1 shocks.

Has anyone chemical dipped frame? Convertible body?

Big jump from engine swap to frame-off but these things tend to happen.

Yes. I’ve done many swaps. Done many subframe swaps in my days at Nissan 2000s. But it was a lot easier with a lift and heavy carts. This would be in the garage with an engine hoist.

A lift is definitely nice! You probably know this but make sure you brace the convertible shell before lifting.

A lift is living the dream :).

I do not know about bracing from experience. I’m hopeful to gain some guidance here. Welding braces? I am going to call a shop in central florida to ask about the dipping process. As I’m located in north Florida.

Most I've seen weld in a brace & only if the doors are off but seems to me making a brace that would bolt on @ the hinge & striker locations would work. Since the factory painted the shell w/doors on separately I assume it was that way. Will have to think about all that with my own '71 GS convertible.
