This has been my 15+ year project car. It is an original 1971 Buick GS350, southern car. I have completed approximately 90% of a frame off restoration. I have lost interest in completing the remaining restoration but looking to see if someone is looking for a high end restoration to complete. I have well over $45k in new parts and this does not include most of the labor. The only work left is to pic you transmission, install the interior, electrical, front clip, exhaust, re-chrome the bumpers, and purchase new rims and tires. This is not a hardship sale and I am looking to get $40k or best offer. I understand that a classic car values are less when not completed. I am just curious is someone is looking for an exceptional restoration to complete. If not, I will get it completed eventually. If you want additional details call my cell 313-573-1405. Below, I have included most of the cost details in the project. Man, you've done all the hard and expensive work and you are just a few months away from finishing it. I know it's hard and gets to be a grind, but just focus on one part at a time and you will get there. It's never easy selling projects, and the return on the investment is also tough to swallow. Best of luck.
Thank for the motivational response. It is just hard focusing on it lately. Between kids growing up and now building cars for them, my time is limited. I know that I will get back on it soon. I am a perfectionist and had to take the time to make sure all the prep work was performed to my standards. I can’t tell you how long it took me to pick a painter. This car is a work of art deserving someone to finish it. I figured I would offer it up because I can not bear looking at it sit. If I don’t sell it, I hope to get the motivation to complete it next year. Thanks
Just from your listing the total comes to almost 45K. Personally I would take a break, sit back & have a beer or two or three. Cover it up good & get back to it when the ambition comes back, AND IT WILL. IF it does get sold I don't have to tell you it would be a big time loss in the end. AND IF it sells in, two years more or less, you will be kicking yourself from doing so. Just preserve it in the condition it's in so it will be ready when you do get back to it. You've gone this far, & granted you have a ways to go, BUT in the end it will ALL be worth it. AND, get your kids involved ALSO. What the hell your building cars for them it's time they reciprocated don't you think??? Just MHO. Tom T.
I agree with the guys above. Try not to let it bug you. It's not going anywhere. It in a good place and when you get to it, you will. Then you will get ti enjoy it, and it will only be worth more. I am pretty sure we all have long term projects that bug the Cr@p out of us. Hopefully we get to finish them!
I agree 100% with the guys above, It took me 14 years to build my lifetime dream car (sorry guys, it's a mopar), but I've been driving it 6 years now, and it WAS worth it!! links: https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/1617770/1.html from this summer, scroll down about half page: https://www.holley.com/blog/post/early_favorites_from_holley_moparty_2020/ Don't give up.... jess t
At this point, as far along as it is, it'd probably be worth getting the bumpers done, getting a trans. done, buying the wheels/tires, & paying someone to finish it if need be. You're soooooo close (yet I know, so far away).
