I found this sheet glued to the rear kick panel. I can see the designation for Convertible and the "155" Pearl white trim as well as "A" might reference white, but does anyone else know what the other codes reference?

    Thanks!

The car has a TH400 with the VIN on it and an OW tag.

Well, that tag may not even go with your car. interior paper decodes - V8Buick.com Read this thread.

PS do you still have a certain White X in stock?

Thanks for the info, it does seem that the sheet may not have been for that particular car.

We have a deal in the works on the White GSX.

I have a few other "documentation" questions.

Has anyone seen a 1971 Stage one Block coded "R S" (I know that RS is 1969 Stage 1 and that '71 should be "T S")?

Is the axle code for the std 3.64 posi Stage 1 gear in '71, the same code on a non stage car?

What was the std/wheel and tire set up for a 1971 Stage 1?

What is the "Normal" time spread for 1971 Stage one specific parts, such as Carb, and distributor to a December second week of 1970 Built Car?

The VIN on the trans matches the cars VIN. The date, and Code on the tag match the Protecto Plate.

stefano, not sure what happened to my first reply posted. I'd be happy to help answer any questions you have. I have the service manual and assembly manuals. I did a lot of research when I restored my car. And I've seen several other cars up close as well over the years.

3467 is for GS convertible; I guess that would cover emblems for Door panels; can't see other reason other than trim shop clarification from 4467 (Skylark custom convertible); no standard skylark convertble?
A02 is for tinted upper windshield only (clear side glass?)
D33 is for remote control outside mirror, driver's side.
M38 usually means TH350 automatic transmission...could be for body shop to install floor shifter with console
D55 is for full length front console
 HEY that's not fair... 71 convertibles aren't supposed to have bucket seats... But how else could it have full console? Is this car another of the SCO code cars on the cowl tag? Also, what is your Build date code?

My 71 skylark custom convertible has similar papers on rear driver's side panel and under rear seat. However it does have the front custom shoulder belts and little retainers (AK1). Have to pull rear seat to get pix and post... Don't remember any papers on my green 71 GS 'vert.:Do No: Gotta look at them too.

Axle code for a '71 Stage 1 and GSX would have been 3.42 only. The RH axle tube would have a stamp "LWB" about 6" out from the pumpkin, on the bottom usually.
The other 455 cars that year had either a 3.42 or a 3.08,either ration open rear or posi.. Look for LHB,LAB,LWB or LSB.
All of the above subject to the SCO option which opens another can of variables.
Quite a variety of wheel/tire combos available. Need to think of the salesman ordering the car from factory. I've seen cars with steel wheel & dog dish hub caps & I've seen them with 14" & 15" rally or super sport style.
Member here -Name?- had a beautiful Stage car with steel wheels & dog dish caps. Ultimate sleeper.
Time spread for individual parts could be best addressed by someone with more experience than I. My guess would be 1-3 months prior to final assembly.

Don't be too sure on the time spread. There appears to be only one date code for the 1112016 distributor in 71. There is a thread here about them. Will have to find again. My 71 Stage-1 has its build date 5th week March 71and original matching frame is from August of 1970. My LWB rear end is from March 25th. Talk about getting in under the wire. Also look for your Fisher body build sheet. It is a very large piece of paper. Mine was rolled up under the front passenger sound deadner at the floor board riser close to the heater core box.

Also code 155 is for white bench seat with arm rest. Code A is for white top.

OF23 is the date code most 71 nad 72 Stage1 cars appear to have. Does the engine block on the car have the vin stamped near the power steering bracket?

Thanks much! That is the Kind of info I needed. I had thought that the Distributor was dated a bit early for the car, but I have that same date F23.

Yes, the VIN is on the Block as well as on the OW Trans. It does have a 3.42 posi, but I have found no code on the axle tube.

Your emssions sticker for the radiator top plate is the correct one for a stage 1 car

    Jim,
It looks original and I see no signs of a repaint on the Top Plate. Is there a way to tell the repros from the originals?

Jim is sleeping  , So I belive the repo's incorrectly say "Stage1". At least until the ones Dave had made.
