So maybe the '72 hood nose was meant to go w/the '72 engine that's in it?

At least on the website it's listed as "Gran."
Consider the source: "WeBe" Unless of course the guy's last name happens to be Webe which is certainly possible.

This phenomenon of claiming the highest quality restoration (or chose whatever hyperbole you like, we have all seen the words, another good one is "unrestored original" that has been repainted or undergone major changes etc.) is out of control right now and I am, frankly, getting really tired of it. It makes it almost impossible for me to even chance buying a car unseen and having a transport company pick it up. I have been misled on numerous occasions very recently and fortunately been able to catch it before buying. However, these experiences have shook me so deeply that I now am back in the fetal position and will not chance a remote unseen buy. Fueling this current situation is a "walking checkbook" will come along who either a) knows nothing b) doesn't care because he is a crypto millionaire c) some other form of oblivion d) or, sadly, a distance buy. There is no feedback loop to correct the bad behavior of misrepresenting a car like there used to be (a "no sale", unfortunately misrepresented / over exaggerated cars sell regardless it seems). While we are on the subject, the current muscle car surge, has also caused dealers (whom I am always skeptical about anyway and have thus far never bought from) to adapt a "don't care" approach to any additional pictures, details, information on a car on their website. As soon as I start asking for specific pictures or questions about something that looks peculiar in a photo they virtually hang up on me and they certainly never get back to me with the information. They just want the quick sale from someone who will just go "ok" and send the money.

I'm guessing he bought them at the same time.

I enjoy spending a few minutes a day on the daily BAT email showing all the auctions closing that day. I don't open it until the evening or next morning after all the auctons have closed and my gosh, while there is a high caliber of car on there and I really like the format with the timer reset, seemingly transparent bidding (one could always have a shill bidder), & comments (I learn a lot about cars I wouldn't otherwise), the prices on there are crazy - It must be the playground of tech/stock/crypto millionaires.

That said, ask ppl on here to check out anything you're looking at and try to get your name out there & what you're looking for - The best deals never officially make it to the "for sale" pages. I know of one deal right now like that and know what a few ppl are looking for and keep my eyes/ears out for them. Going to PM someone today who contacted me and give him contact info of a guy who has the car he's looking for. My last '70 Stage 1 4-sp. (@Brett Slater 's car) was sold because a mutual friend knew what Brett was looking for & I was mentioned to him that I was considering selling.

I see you did put it on your profile what you're looking for & I think we went back and forth on a wanted thread you posted so I do knkw what you're looking for - I do know a guy in western Canada w/a '72 GS 455 but it's a basket case and IIRC you're looking for a higher end resto/orig. but not a trailer queen.

Wow.. what a mess.. and what color is that... if it is suppose to be Harvest Gold, it is at least a shade or two too dark. Maybe it's just the pics..

50K... ya, you might want to tighten your grip on reality a bit there..

That's a 20K car, if it is even a real GS455.. I suspect it's a GS 350, from the "oops" picture that shows the GS emblem, and the "by Buick" plate that the 350 cars had..

If it's a GS 350, then it's worth, like everything I guess, what you can get someone to pay for it.. but the asking prices is a multiple or two too high.

Mid teens for that mess, Lord only knows what the underside looks like.. let alone the work that "no one can see"..

Yea, we hadn't even gotten to the color yet Jim, lol. I was thinking the same on the Harvest Gold and agree that it's probably not a Stage 1 and quite likely an orig. 350 car. Maybe I'll ask for the vin and a pic of the trim tag.

Thanks Dan. I agree, the best deals are the behind the scenes ones. I have bought several of my cars that way. No issues, just straight talk this is what it is, this is what I want, yes or no.

Yes, not looking for a basket case unless it is some incredibly unique and desirable car (71 Hemi Cuda level car). I mostly go upside down on cars (I am sure we all do, it is part of the hobby i.e. I pay $1000USD for a factory one year only AM/FM for my 68 GTO that I never install but when I try to sell it I am lucky to get $200 CDN... NOS RAIV pistons for my Judge that I ended up just going aftermarket Federal Mogul with... you name it... I have lost money on it LOL... it's all good) but I don't want to go deep upside down. I am skilled decently enough in all areas of restoration except for, the hardest and the one requiring the most talent, that is body work / painting so I have to pay for that and so you are upside down pretty quick on a basket case as a result. So unless the basket case is a cheap Hemi Cuda with original drive train... I will pass. My top dream car is an unrestored nice, driver quality 70 Automatic Apollo White GSX and I think there are periodically decent examples available for less than a basket case restoration. If I could do the body work myself, sure, but I can't. The recent 65k basket case GSX is a good example... I would probably be into that car for 160-180k USD by the end simply because I can't do the body / paint. I see nice drivers for less once in a while.

I've said for years if a buyer has 50k to spend on a classic car they are a fool for not spending 1k more and flying in for an inspection. I would never dream of spending that kind of money without my own eyes on the car and handshake. To each his own though.

Correct I agree, I have flown in (or did the drive) on every US purchase I have made for 40 years now, checked the car out, sometimes done the deal, sometimes not. However, right now I can't (land traffic still restricted from Canada to America, air travel is permitted but I am not clear on many things). I am not willing to quarantine at each end because I don't even fully understand the quarantine process in my own country let alone yours (time required, tests required etc.). The right car may come along before things are normalized so having a company ship and broker may be required.

Well, I messaged the seller @ Black Tie for a pic of the trim tag/vin. I'll post what happens (or not).

What's w/the dash bezel? Looks like it was a woodgrain bezel that the applique was torn off and apparently an aftermarket tach? And no front bumper fillers. It just gets worse. Maybe (hopefully) is is pics of a work in progress but...
