Needs help, but get it running and drive a beater GSX would be pretty cool.

Up for sale is a 1970 Buick GSX #308

Clean title and full Wayne Robert's report

This car is all numbers matching. It is a non stage auto car with A/C. This car will need a complete restoration. It doesn't run but everything is there. I recently added hood scoops and seal plates. It has been in storage for over 30 years. The car has rust issues that are pictured but the frame and main structure are good. Inner and outer rockers, firewall and other panel areas are good and more than enough metal to attach replacement panels to. The drivers door doesn't latch closed and the rear spoiler isn't connected.

I do not have the tach or chin spoiler. I do also have a partial interior buildsheet.

IIRC it was bid up to $41k (ish) last time which IMHO the seller should've taken the $/profit & run. There's an extensive thread (2 I believe) on it where we got a bit off track into the re-body debate (I wouldn't on this car).

I thought it may have been the same car, I wasn't sure. I had no idea about the asking price.

It was seemingly a great starting point @ the $25k the seller paid for it in May & when it also allegedly (the seller denies) came w/the orig. steering wheel and tach. If someone could do most of the work themselves, they could wind up w/a really nice #'s matching GSX in what I believe is the most common configuration (yellow, std. 455, auto, A/C).

If you told me that I had to keep that car and fix it I would not go get it if it was given to me for free, NEVER again....

Other than having the tach & steering wheel (& being NOM or at least the orig. block decked), it's probably not far from where yours started & it looks way better even in these pictures than it really was.

True but when I purchased it the frame had been done body was blasted, Nos qtrs, inners and outers were installed. Repop R front inner and core support, trunk floor was installed engine was rebuilt as was the trans. What a mess the whole thing was. When I found out the panels were just welded in a few spots I decided to check the engine. I had the person that does my engine machining check it out (rebuild was a joke). When he told me how bad the engine was I decided to check the trans and it was not done correctly either. I had to source parts from all over the country because I wanted rust free 70 dated parts. If I had known it would take this long and be this troublesome I think I would have just scraped it in the beginning. I could not find one at the time and made a jump, right off the deep end. As I said Never again. Your better off to pay up front, yes it Might cost you more and that is only if you can do all the work yourself. if not your not going to save any money. Also on the plus side you can be enjoying it for many years instead of it setting in the body shop...

It did not look so bad setting on the trailer until started looking deeper. It is all taken care of now, engine & original #'s trans rebuilt. Still on the fence but since I cannot prove original engine even it being date correct I have been thinking of installing a ZL1-LT4 with 10 spd trans. I found a take out ready to go and been talking to someone about the swap.

    charlierogers GSX stage 1 4 speed #149

the lt4 + 10 speed auto would make that 1 killer ride. a little tune and a couple simple mods and your talking 700rwhp on pump gas! no to mention bulletproof/reliable engine with a stock idle.

It is Dan's old car and the two pictures he posted are of it when he had it.

I'd hate to see it go that route on the engine but it's not mine... I just wish I'd never taken it apart but I was young and dumb.

Not sure that it matters, but I believe there are ways to prove the original engine stampings were there if it wasn't decked too much - Same way the police can recover ground off numbers. The metal gets deformed deeper than the staping itself but I'm sure you know that.
